This is another example of small town gossip/ignorance. Do you really think one of the worlds largest banks would tell someone on the Laurel County school board that they were closing before they informed the employees. That makes complete sense. I also heard that the CEO of the BP oil company called the Mayor of London and told him that he was going to raise gas prices by 5 cents! In this economy no job is secure anymore. You people should spend your time doing something more productive with your lives rather than spreading rumors that impact 500 employees families.

Looking at the broad spectrum of things. Everything "IS" going to close eventually. My goodness, nothing is forever. You can't spend your days worring about tomorrow or you are never going to make it through today. HSBC/Beneficial/HFC has been closing since it's inception. Clearly it can't be opening since it has been here for 12 years. Shame on you that are hoping for the 250+ people that work there and have worked there to lose their jobs. Anyone wishing for people to lose their jobs must live a dismal and bitter life. I am truely sorry that you feel that way.

no it is the way this company has done people, its workers and the borrower, that,s the reason they are going down, they are a bad company and the way they do people is why they are going out.

HSBC is an awesome place. They are not closing any time soon. They were hiring new people not too long ago. They wouldn't hire a bunch of new people and turn around and fire them! I'm going to go buy a new car!

Um, I don't understand this really well. I don't like to believe or shoot down things like this without all the facts. If someone could help me out, what does the school board meeting have to do with HSBC and if they are closing or not. What school board meeting was it, and where can I find the minutes? What is the basis on the dec 31st date?

No they're not hiring. If HSBC doesnt send a different portfolio to London, they'll have to close. HSBC has announced repeatedly their regret in buying hfc, and they're currently running off that portfolio.
not hiring but firing
