Not being a medical professional makes it impossible to know the merits or problems with either. But I do know the London hospital has been sued by over one hundred former heart patients claiming unnecessary procedures were performed. Moreover, I also know a heart doctor who worked at St. Joseph London for years in now in federal prison after pleading guilty to doing unnecessary heart procedures at that hospital. Despite all this and the fact St Joseph just fired two other heart specialist, they still tout their heart program. It sure makes one wonder. I would not go there.

This has been a nationwide problem in Cardiology, and I commend Catholic for doing something about it. I've seen both Dr. Reddy and Dr. Loventhal at Baptist-Corbin and thought both were great! Using Baptist also opens up the whole Baptist network including Somerset and Lexington. Neither hospital has a major trauma unit so accident victims are taken to Lexington.

I can personally vouch for the General Surgery team at Baptist-Corbin. Dr. Lauber and Dr. Michna are both top notch, and Dr. Brown has recently joined the team from Somerset, where he is very well thought of. They are now doing breast cancer and belly-reduction surgery and Dr. Brown will be adding vascular surgeries.

I don't know the London Doctors well but I would have no qualms about going there either.

under obamacare, soon all the hospitals will require you to have a microchip in your hand or forehead /under the skin/ to get treatment.
revelation 13 warns us against this.
this is the mark of the beast, and the gov can control you with this thing.
you will be less than a mindless sheep.
instead of commenting back at me with hatred, you should do the research. this was all foretold 1000,s of years ago by the inventor creator of all psychics.

I've heard stories about problems at the old London hospital. But from what I hear the problems have been taken care of and now may not exist at the new one.

I've never been admitted to either of them, but I've friends that have and I haven't heard any of them say anything bad about London or Corbin.

There are certain things which should be considered in choosing which to go to. Not about the quality of the doctors, but in what the doctor is permitted to do and not do by the hospital administration.

If pregnant and you could possibly have complications you definitely should go to the Baptist hospital in Corbin. You 'do not' want to go to a Catholic hospital. It's the very last place you want to be. The doctors and nurses are under strict directives to withhold information from you if the complications would require aborting the fetus to save your health or life. Part of this includes if your complications cause the pregnancy to start miscarriage, they aren't permitted to medically speed it up to reduce physical damage that could be caused to your body. They will let you suffer through it. They'll give you pain meds, but that's pretty much all they'll do.

Here are two examples pertaining to what I'm talking about. There's more but these should get my point across. If you'll notice the date on the first is from a week ago.

Saint Joseph did nothing to clean it up until they got caught. Now there is a federal investigation and many law suits so we will know if St. Joseph knew or should have known what was going on. These little hospitals spend a fortune to get heart surgery programs so they can make big money. This is not the first time a hospital owned by Catholic Health has been caught doing unnecessary heart procedures. Greed drives some of these programs and I suspect anyone with a serious problem of any kind better get to some major medical facility.

The problem is at the Physician level, and it is absolutely greed-driven. Primary Care Docs and Cardiologists have had their reimbursements for office visits cut to the bone, so it's hard to make ends meet if they don't do any proceedures.

Don't think for a minute that this doesn't go on at major medical facilities across the US. It RARELY gets caught at the Hospital Administration level, and most of the smarter Cardiologists don't push their luck.

Saint Joseph's deserves credit for acting to terminate the Physicians involved instead of just waiting for the malpractise lawers to eat them. Most Hospitals have contracts with these Doctors that prevent them from being more proactive.

This happened to me 5 years ago at the UAB Med Center in Birmingham. The Doctor looked me right in the eye and said that I needed a stat heart cath. When I balked at it, he suggested that I could have a heart attack on the way out of his office. I informed him that the only way I might have a heart attack in his office was if I had to kick his ass to get out the door...

How can you possible say that Saint Joseph's deserves credit for acting to terminate the doctors involved when the HOSPITAL WAS UP TO THEIR OWN EARS IN THE SCAM. Did they not send the patients bills for the services that were performed??? I got a bill from Dr. Patil AND from St. Joseph's when I had my heart cath !!! The Hospital is just as guilty as the doctors in my opinion. No way can they say they didn't know what was going on and how often procedures were being performed..........

When the law suits began, a news story said St. Joseph London did more heart procedures in one year than all the hospitals in Louisville. If true, it would suggest it was complicit in this conduct.

The hospitals may provide the facilities and equipment, but make no mistake that the Doctor is in charge of the diagnosis and proceedure.

You're suggesting that Avis should refuse to rent me a car becasue I rent a lot of cars and so they should assume that I use them to rob banks.

I should hope that Hospitals now are taking a hard look at the cath lab utilization stats, but a busy cath lab doesn't by itself suggest abuse.

I wish you had a document detailing a conspiracy between St. Joseph and the Cardiologists to do as many heart caths as possible for mutual financial gain, because that would be BIG news, indeed...

you couldn't stop laughing when we told you he was muslim, and then he finally admitted that to the public.

when they finally come to march your dum azz to the fema camps, also which are now proven to exist...

There are directives set down by the hospital that doctors have to follow. There's also procedures the person in charge must sign off on before a doctor can proceed. I gave two examples in my last post.

One involves a Federal lawsuit against Catholic hospitals (all of them), pertaining to life-saving or vital information being intentionally withheld from patients.

The other example where a nun was fired from St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix and excommunicated for authorizing a doctor do a processure (requested by the doctor to save a woman's life) that was against hospital directives.

Hospitals are suppose to monitor what goes on in their hospitals. Particularly where surgery is concerned. They have a duty to do so. They can also be sued and held legally liable if they don't.
