Kansas developed MCO's to manage their medicaid, it took 18 months.
Ky tried to do it in 6 months.
KY knew that people would suffer. The gov knew people would suffer, he did not care he is not running again.
The Governor was forced into doing this plan that wasn't very well thought out. He was forced by Senate Bully David Williams who said the governor either do something quick or the senate would vote to cut off Medicaid funds. And the Bully would have attempted it. He has no morals or ethics, it's all about what he can get for himself and his rich friends.

Well Medicare is fixing to be turned upside down too before long with all the new rules going into effect.
For the majority health care is going to become a thing of the past.
They will weed out this or that one by one until it finally covers almost nothing from all the programs.

Wasn't Coventry Life and Health Insurance Co., which operates Coventry Cares, under investigation for conduct bordering on Medicaid fraud? Didn't Coventry care also violate a state contract by cutting off access to a prescription drug used to treat drug addiction? Didn't Appalachian Regional Healthcare sue Coventry for making inadequate and late payments to hospitals? Didn't problems begin popping up almost as soon as Coventry began doing business in Ky? Didn't the state say lawmakers may kick the company out of the state Medicaid system if the company's behavior persists? Just asking.

Go to Reuter.com and look at Coventry's profits last quarter. Disgusting. Steve Beshear, well as many State Reps. have stock in Coventry. This why they are retained and were recruited to KY. Beshear's big comment of "get used to managed care it will work and is not going away" shows his commitment to his own interest, not Ky's. The Lex. Herald is a well known as the Democratic's "tool" has published several articles praising Coventry, Where is the fair reporting?

Also, where is our super star AG? Funny how all this has been over looked by him. Good Ol Jack is too busy to care about the poor and the sick.

Also, these contract terminations are exactly what was foreseen and desired. The state gave all 3 MCOs" X " amount of money. The MCO are purposefully creating poor access to care. No access, no expenditure= proft. And are they ever profittable.

Well I am trying to get away from the democrat republican thing. I think its a way to divide the vast majority of people in order to control and get what they want.

If we banded together we would be too dangerous to the powers that be.

All these MCO's, are out to hurt people. Its silly to expect the poorest of the poor to travel hundreds of miles to see a doctor whom they have never seen before for a sickness they have had for years. Its a plan to get people to give up and die off quietly, and that preserves the good "christian" social standing.

Poor people cannot travel, poor uneducated people have no voice.

"Over time" and "People will die" have it correct. The Gov and the Cabinet DID KNOW the consequences.. In fact our new Medicaid Commissioner is a huge managed care proponent. He has already held up the payments to providers and helped enable this vicious cycle. No one can get this Cabinet to move without a court order. Funny our Gov, AG, or state legislators do not compel the CH&F to act appropriate under a statue or ruling. They simply do as they please. The worst is yet come for areas with a high concentration of medicaid.

Two very talented surgeons in Lexington are moving out of KY, at least 7 family pract. have decided to retire or leave as well. That is in a metro region. The Eastern part of the state will be devasted.

Wow.... Where have you been?? Do you not realize that Medicare started doing "managed care" years ago?? There are hundreds of private carriers offering "Medicare Advantage" plans...plans that "manage" your Medicare benefits.....

First off not here to discuss lazy people who fraud or whatever. This is for people who need and receive medicaid legally and need it.
Coventry is starting to bleed and bleed bad. Trying to change over too quickly and to cheaply is starting to bite Coventry in the butt. And Medicaid patients WILL suffer.(baptist healthcare is on the possible discountine list!!!)
They are constantly "re negotiating contracts" and then conveniently offer such low and slow or nonexistent reimbursements that pretty soon, I'd say in the next 12 months the availability of medical care for medicaid patients will be an absolute nightmare.
The emergency rooms will be even more over run than nowadays.
If you, your grandparents, or your children have a medical need and they/you are on Coventry you had better get it taken care of quick.
Providers are dropping like flies hourly.
And the providers that are still accepting Coventry are going to be absolutely packed and overworked.
If you look at the Coventry web page under providers, the list looks wonderful even many states and fine hospitals are listed, however when you call and ask about the providers, they tell you that most doctors listed have dropped Coventry and that the list has not been updated.
Also the provider book is no longer valid.
Providers are dropping so fast they cannot keep it updated.
So make your appointments and get your problems looked at , and get your medicine cabinet stocked because its goin to be tough, and deaths from simple illnesses will be accumulating
blah blah blah you liein fk terd keep paying taxes coventry care aint going out of nothing just got off the phone with them hehehehe go fk your dog

Actually, managed care was designed to ensure that the people who NEED care would still have care available in the future..... Medicaid program had to be reorganized because so many people abuse the system. Many people on Medicaid run to the ER (emergency room reserved for serious/life threatening Illness) weekly, monthly, etc for simple illnesses such as a runny nose and cough which can be treated much cheaper at a Doctor's office. Managed care is designed to "manage your care" if it appears you are over utilizing unnecessarily then you may be assigned a caseworker to help you learn ways to cut down on healthcare costs, learn healthier habits. In other words having a Medicaid/MCO card shouldn't mean that you don't have to be concerned about how the bill will be paid to the point that you use it like a credit card with no limit...
Nothing wrong with needing help... But if you need help you should be grateful for it and not take advantage of it. Save some for others that may need it in the future.
once I went to the emergency room forgot my card do they billed me first so I got to see what they were charging for going after 10pm charge of $40 a brace for wrist $120 which is less than $20 at Walmart and so on and I called Medicaid about my concerns over the bill which they were paying and the lady on the phone told me to take it up with the hospital. Needless to say I wasn't paying the bill they were and I was just dumbfounded by her attitude that's why nothing gets paid and they have to charge so much to get a portion of it. In my opinion with this new healthcare there should be a limit on charges for services and maybe they would get paid. I guess everyone has to be to greedy. So sad it has come to this and it's not going to get better :(

here is the problem, outlandish CEO pay....thats the #1 reason the ER bill will be 20,000 every time.....thats why a cotton pad costs 50.00, thats why healthcrae is unattainable to most....its the GREED of the wealthy.....its been the GREED of the greedy that has ruined most human life.

Stop letting them get away with it. Educate yourself.

"What Coventry Health has been superb at is caring for Wall Street, growing steadily through acquisition, posting some of the highest margins in the industry and maintaining a single-minded focus on share price through lavish, stock-based compensation for its top executives and directors."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/aetna-...

They are going to take all it can get while nobody’s watching as it leaves many sick...sicker and many dead. Its all about the top rich stock holders.

They will take the money and run leaving the poor and sick in the gutter as usual.

They are simply cutting services, meds, and turning people down on medical tests. They are not improving medial care and outcomes they are simply preventing people from getting services.

It will end up after 3 years of doing this that there will be huge amounts of really sick people storming the ER's. And if republicans get in they will make sure to change the rules so that ERs can turn you away.

When the ER stats turning very sick people away and ppls babies start dying in parking lots.....the shits gonna hit the fan. When you got nothing you got nothing to lose.

Because of the greedy rich...medical costs are outrageous and even people who work hard cant afford simple medical services like dental.

This is not about the welfare queens.....healthcare is overpriced to the point that 80% of the working ppl cant even afford it.

And its because of the greedy rich like CEO's needing to have a salary of 5 million a year.

You can bet that these companies are only interested in getting all the money they can from the medicaid system.

http://www.kentucky.com/2012/05/08/2180564/ma...

I dont know if this contract with Baptist has had any action, if this falls through....well its gonna be a mess...I mean how many does UK serve? TONS! Where will the poor go?This contract effects some of the biggest regional hospitals in KY.....im talking lex, louisville, paducah, corbin.

How can the poorest people drive hundreds of extra miles and stay in hotes? Its foolish to expect the poor to do this.???

How can tons of people only go to one hospital?

I would guess thats the whole point. They know most cant do that and many will die.I have already had my doctor switch 3 different meds to something else because the ones I was getting are no longer covered.
This is only going to get worse. We will be getting less and less care.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/24/us/24kentuc...

they pay (when they actual get an approval for something) about 30% of what the dentist usually gets. So if the dentists charges 100 medicaid may pay 30 dollars, so medicaid puts all the responcibility onto the doctors.....where it does not belong.

they also like to approve the exam, but when the dentist find something that needs addressing, medicaid refuses to approve it. Kind of dumb huh?

Either you are about preventative care....or you are not. Medicaid lies.
