There's a house in London for sale on Craigslist pretty cheap. I don't think you'll get anything for $7,000 but you might make a deal.

Pretty sure the poster means he has that much to pay down to get something.Anyone thats looked at renting or buying knows you cant buy anything more than a lot for $7000 and thats usually not in a good area.
You would have to have at least that much just to do a rent to own.

Right now, from what I've seen banks have gone back to the 20% equity rule. That means the $7,000 would buy you a $35,000 house. Problem is a bank doesn't want to loan under $50,000. Buying a house is a pain these days.

Oh its very hard to buy a place unless you have cash.
Many people dont take into consideration the taxes and insurance, etc on top of the payments.Plus just the general upkeep, closing costs, etc. If you have cash you can come out really well and with good deals but its a terrible struggle for the average person....and you are correct its 20% down now and usually you have to pay the closing costs.
Rent has gone crazy too.People with little income are going to have a very hard time just having a roof over their head.I know one family thats still renting a motel room and then spending nights in their car when money runs out till more comes in.Have been doing this about a year.Just cant get ahead enough to get a place I guess.

oh lord a house for 7 thousand , around here you might find a old 10 or 15 year old doublewide for that but i doubt you could get land with it .
But i have saw decent double wide trailers for that or less that is because a trailer does not hold value they are like automobiles go down in value every year.

They should buy a piece of land on some hill side that is probally about all 7 thousand would buy and then they can get a m/h on credit anyone can get one if they own a piece of land they are built so cheap all they are is 2x4 , insulation ,some tar paper, then siding around the tar paper and whatever is on the inside walls, they know that people will pay on them for a few years and if they let them go they have done been paid the worth of one and they have the land to the good .It would be better than paying rent unless a tornado come through.
