MEDINA, Ohio - Accidental shootings at gun shows in North Carolina, Indiana and Ohio left five people injured Saturday, the same day that thousands of gun advocates gathered peacefully at state capitals around the U.S. to rally against stricter firearm limits.

At the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, a 12-gauge shotgun discharged as its owner unzipped its case for a law enforcement officer to check at a security entrance, injuring three people, state Agriculture Department spokesman Brian Long said.

In Indianapolis, police said a 54-year-old man was injured when he inadvertently shot himself while leaving a gun show.

Emory L. Cozee was loading his .45-caliber semi-automatic when he shot himself in the hand as he was leaving the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife show at the state fairgrounds, state police said. Loaded personal weapons aren't allowed inside the show.

And in Ohio, a gun dealer in Medina was checking out a semi-automatic handgun he had bought Saturday when he accidentally pulled the trigger, injuring his friend, police said. The gun's magazine had been removed from the firearm, but one round remained in the chamber, police said.

New Mexico - a 15 yr. old kills his parents and 3 young sibblings. The police found an assault rifle, among other guns.

Since it appears the Dad was involved with the church, they apparently were "law-abiding" citizens.....with all those guns.

Accidental shootings at 3 gun shows?

We have hundreds of automobile "accidents" every day. Come on people, stop being stupid. Accidents happen every day even at nuclear facilities and day care centers. Ban accidents if you have to ban something.

I see you have a reading comprehension problem. I said that "accidents happen every day" and made the point that "accidents" even happen at nuclear facilities and day care centers. An educated person would have seen that.

People like you are a dime a dozen as is evident on topix, you have nothing of substance to share so you use your incompetent reading skills as a platform to launch your stupidity. I guess its all you got.

A vast majority of ALL accidents are avoidable human errors.
Example: Allowing an ignorant person to own a gun is an accident waiting to happen.
In each of the above cases, the accident was completely avoidable.
Carrying a loaded weapon, failing to disarm the weapon, not having the knowledge to unload a firearm, not double checking the firearm to insure it is not loaded... failure to follow rudimentary and fundamental safety rules.
My point being - In America, any nincompoop can by a weapon without so much as reading safety brochure.

You distorted what I said deliberately or through stupidity, which one is it? I did not say what you posted above, you lied.

Are you saying that you still don't understand what I said?

Can you not understand the structure of a sentence? I said that "accidents happen every day" even at nuclear facilities and day care centers. In no way does that sentence say that accidents happen every day at nuclear facilities or day care centers. Come on now, be honest.

I can't believe you're as ignorant as you pretend to be. But, just in case you really are a moron, let me simplify Walt's post so that even you can understand:

1. Accidents happen every day.

2. Accidents happen in nuclear facilities.

3. Accidents happen at day care centers.

If you need further simplification I'll leave it to others. I can't write at the kindergarten level.

Nuclear facilities produce power needed to survive
Daycares are necessary for people who work to survive.

Gunshows are so people can buy things to kill with and are not necessary at all. A skinned knee or someone spilling their coffee at a nuclear plant are not like having a hole blown in you with a shotgun you poor fool!

So, you'd outlaw every activity that isn't necessary because accidents might happen? Of course you'll decide what's necessary and what isn't.

You keep digging your 'stupid' hole deeper and deeper.

If it weren't for guns, we would be British dummy.

Try looking at some American history and see what happened when the British came to take away the colonists arsenal of guns. Can you say "Revolutionary War"? Remember, history always repeats itself because ignorant people don't have a clue. Are you ready for the next one? I am.
