I had a similar opinion before I started attending Hawk Creek. Thankfully, I was so wrong. It's a very welcoming place....no one pays attention to what you wear or what you drive, or how deep your pockets are. Alot of people wear jeans, t-shirts, whatever and no one looks down their noses at others. Hawk Creek is a very positive, happy place to worship and has a great kids program. They get to learn and worship on a level they understand. We've all been to churches where we feel like we don't belong and we've seen church people treats others poorly because of who they are, what they've done, or what they look like. I have never witnessed this at Hawk Creek. Come this Sunday, you may be pleasantly surprised!

I saw awhile back on this board that the Church sings Journey and other rock and roll songs, is that indeed the truth?

I seen awhile back - like 22hrs ago you was an idiot ..... Is that indeed the truth ?
So what if they did? Anything wrong with a journey song ? Does church have to sing boring hyms every Sunday to please God? Maybe the song had a meaning behind it .... Ever think of that. To answer your stupid question the sermon was on love/marriage and they started the service singing Faithfully by Journey .... A very meaningful song. No they don't sing rock n roll .... Ever listen to klove, then that's what you hear there. I think the good Lord will be pleased that people are in His house worshipping him, not on here bashing the church that's just trying to be a little different.

People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Otis (the town drunk on The Andy Griffith Show) had respect for others. At least he didn’t go around calling other people idiots. Do you think being Otis (the holier-than-thou) gives you the right to call other people idiots?

Otis if you can’t tolerate such small comment as the one Agree made, I wonder what your reaction would be to something much greater? I’ve witnessed what the holier-than-thou type can do. I’ve seen them throw good preachers out. I’ve seen, and heard them insult children and poor people. I’ve heard them talk bad about other people behind their backs. How do I know all this you might ask? I know all this because I was twice (indirectly and directly) a victim of such people (aka holier-than-thou). So, Mr. Otis, your attitude makes me not want to attend your church. I can find a better class of losers elsewhere.

So did they sing or just play the Journey song? I've got to know! That is about as funny as the preachers hair.

Im with you! If they feel hyms are boring then I guess they think Jesus is boring. That is what is wrong with the churches today, twisting and changing everything to suit the young folks. Their parents know better, but are going right along with it because it is what Johnney and Suzie want and they are helping to send their children to Hell. People are using church like a social club today. The bible says to seek out the old paths. I know now why that scripture is in there.

I don't agree with the whole paying a preacher to bring someone to Christ. It's is everybody's duty as a Christian to preach and teach the word. I listen to contemporary Christian music and really enjoy but u can never go wrong with the "traditional" hymns. When u sing them u are praising The Lord. A lot of time people choose to go to these mega churches just so they can be a face in the crowd. Being a part of the Church is more than attending service for 90 mins. It's a week long testament. Coming on here bashing others over what is right and wrong is not living for The Lord. Churches want to preach and make people feel good about themselves instead of preaching and bringing conviction upon them. That can't live a different life though the week and know its ok as long as u come one day a week and pray it away. Just my opinion. Not trying to bash.

Nothing is wrong. With traditional hymns and nothing is wrong with singing new music to worship God. Jesus to my knowledge did not write Amazing Grace. You just need to worship in the way that you are giving your all to God. If you stand in one place and sing praise God over and over and are worshiping with your all then that is great. It is not about what song you sing but about why you sing it. You should not take a persons word on here to make up your mind. Pray and ask God to lead you to the Church that is best for you. Knowing Jesus is the main thing.

Shake it high…shake it low…shake it all around. Who cares? Apparently most parents and older adults don’t. It attracts the young crowd and gets the head count.

Thats whats wrong with a lot of our churches today. Nothing is wrong. No standards. You can look around and see where that attitude has got us. If we are true Christians of God, then our body is the temple of the Lord and we should dress, and act accordianly. I don't believe that when Jesus comes back he will have earbuds in his ears or that he will send a text message to say he is coming. The bible says he will come in a cloud of glory. I have seen young folks at church every Sunday playing on their phones and checking their text messages. Do they think God is going to send them a message and they are going to miss it?I also don't believthat when Gabriel blows his trumpet it will be to the tune of Journey. It is time to quit playing church and using churc for a social club. If you have to wonder if something is right it probably isnt. Dont do it. Ask yoursef, what would Jesus do or would he be happy with what I am doing if He came back at this very instant?

Totally agree. The youth of today is nothing like it was 20 years ago. They go to church bc that church is offering cool field trips or bc they can hang out with their friends and talk about boys or girls. When their home they are arguing with their parents and talking about things they shouldn't. But all of that starts with the parents. Most of the time the parents are living a life's that isn't acceptable to what Gods plan is for us. I know numerous guys that go to church on Sunday but the rest of the week they live a life that u would not even think they was in church. You are either cold or hot there is not in between.

My prayer is that God continues to bless all the work taking place there and all the surrounding churches. God uses different churches and preachers to accomplish the same purpose- Salvation of souls, fellowship, worship ministry, evangelism, and discipleship. Once you know Jesus and experience His love, you will never be the same. Doesn't matter the name over the door, get plugged in where God leads you.

It’s nearly impossible for unchurched people, and some church members to know what the Bible really says about sin. It matters not what church it is or the denomination, the Bible is the Authority. There is a problem—a huge problem when drug abusers, alcohol abusers, fornicators, shack jobs, thieves, liars, and etc, can sit comfortably in the pews showing no desire to change, and some of such even singing in the choir impersonating saved people—and all the preacher does is deliver feel-good messages. It’s a fact that liberal churches are growing. It could be that the liberal message makes getting to heaven sound like a piece of cake without any real repentance and sacrifice. This partly explains why preachers who made the people feel guilty, found themselves looking for another vocation. This may be a liberal society, but the Bible teaches that “Jesus Christ saves us from our sins”—not in our sins. Personally, I don’t have any desire to attend liberal churches, simply because I believe their message is not biblically sound at all.
