Illinois credit rating sinks to worst in nation
Chicago Tribune ^| 1/25/13 | Ray Long, Monique Garcia

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois fell to the bottom of all 50 states in the rankings of a major credit ratings agency Friday following the failure of Gov. Pat Quinn and lawmakers to fix the state’s hemorrhaging pension system during this month’s lame-duck session.

Standard & Poor’s Ratings Service downgraded Illinois in what is the latest fallout over the $96.8 billion debt to five state pension systems. The New York rating firm’s ranking signaled taxpayers may pay tens of millions of dollars more in interest when the state borrows money for roads and other projects.

“It’s absolutely bad news for taxpayers,” said Dan Rutherford, the Republican state treasurer. Illinois received its bottom-of-the-pack ranking when it fell from an “A” rating to “A-minus.”

That’s the same rating as California, but California has a positive outlook.

SpitUp will be along shortly to explain how great it is to live in Chicago and how stealing cars is actually a good thing.

It's quite newsworthy that indeed Illinois is in bad financial shape due to crooked politicians....across the board in both parties.

I can't really vouch for Chicago booting, because huh huh huh, I don't live in the City. Therefore, it really doesn't bother me. Was it suppose to? If you really want it to bother, I'll see if I can work that out.

Let's put it this way. I doubt a car thief could make alot of money in a small town with 1968 rusty old Chevy trucks sitting around in grassless lawns stacked on concrete blocks with tobacco spit juice dried down the side of the doors. But, you can give it a hsot!

You better spend more time getting them off your rooftops down there. Last time I was down there, I saw them all over rooftops. I hear they breed like rabbits. Subsequently, you might need to spend more time worrying about that little one horse town of yours before it becomes a ....big horse. lol Chicago can handle itself regardless. It always has. Just ask Capone!

You give them driver's license, you generate more revenue, decrease paperwork and.....know where they are! That way, ya don't have to climb up on those rooftops and pull 'em off. By the way, who is it that's hiring them down there?

Yep Chicago is doing a helluva a job handling itself.Hows that gun control working out for you? Guns are not supposed to be allowed there are they? How come homicides have went up in Chicago while those type crimes in larger cities like New York have went down? Huh? As long as you have clueless individuals with an agenda like Obama,Rahm, and a few others these type things will keep happening.

You really need not post links concerning Chicago.......huh huh huh, I live here!

New York, maybe with exception of the Bronx, Manhattan/New York City entertains more upscale people and it also houses the World Trade Center which in the center of global trading. You wouldn't typically see a....let's say, Meth head from Laurel County working the WTC.

Chicago politics has never been a leader in the ethics department, long before Obama or Rahm. That's no secret. Chicago has always also been known for housing the Mob. Well, fast forward to 21st century. Chicago is a hub for immigrants and the Gangs now are the "new Mob". They lay out their turf and if a rival gang tries to emerge, they shoot. With as many people as there are in the inner cities, more particularly the South Side, the population far out numbers the cops and they are always looking for community support. Trouble is, the community of people are scared for their own lives and won't talk. Thus, the beat goes on.

Chicago is Chicago and it will always be Chicago. You couldn't blame Obama when Al Capone and his gang was afluent in the area, and, you can't blame Obama for these things. That's why we have states and municipalities and it isn't to sit on their as-es. I often wondered why with Meth manufacturing, your State is #1 and given such small population in your little one horse towns, it never ceases to amaze me how it is the police dept. earns their paychecks?

Oh you mean there's a station stating something important to you that isn't Fox? I thought these were all Obama stations! lmao Oh but wait a minute....it suits your agenda! I only wish I could find one thing of my agenda that Fox suits, but....I just can't.

No wonder the people in the community are scared for their lives.Duh? They are not allowed to have guns and the police are a nonfactor. In other words people that live there are sitting ducks just waiting for a gangbanger to drive by and shoot them or come and knock their door down to rape, kill, rob, or whatever the criminals want to do to them.Sounds like some real clueless people live there or do they expect the police to come save them? I guess if they left they would lose their handouts from Obama or Emmanuel or whoever is giving the handouts to them? Ah the government teat lol.I wouldnt live in a place like that.

Criminals in New York CAUGHT with a gun WILL receive a minimum of a 3 to 5 year prison sentence whether a crime is being committed or not when caught. If the same situation happens in Chicago there is almost a 50 percent chance the charge wont be prosecuted and it will be dismissed. At this time in 2013 Chicago has 42 murders and New York has 14.Chicago and Obama lapdog Emmanuel need to get their crap together and start prosecuting those people.Enough BS-- do something about it.They have scattered so much BS that its rubbing off on some of the residents of the state and city.If that hits you sqarely in the face so be it.By the way that report was on CBS News tonight.

You do also realize that in New York City, when they catch a guy on the street with drugs, they shake 'em down and ....let them go don't you, or, are you utterly unfamiliar with big city ways coming from such a tiny little town? There is only X number of jails that holds X number of prisoners.

I'm aware you mentioned CBS, thus why my statement that why is it any other station than Fox is good for shi- until it comes to something that fits your right wing agenda? THAT was my point. Or do I need to get my dot to dot book out for you?

Don't be concerned about Chicago. Just take care of your own community and it's meth overload per capita, which is overwhelming to say the least and thus why Nightline showed up at your scene.

Chicago has had crime and it will always have crime. New York may have been lower than us this past year, and, it could be higher than us next year. Law of averages. And you do know that some actual murders can wind up in court as "involuntary manslaughter" or the likes and not go on the "murder" statistics. Oh but the games people play. Will you soon wake up to the real world? I'm a true novice to that kind of stuff, but I could shuffle those numbers anyway you like!

My goodness, are you that obsessed with my town? If you are, we welcome your visit to see for yourself and not just sit in your little world and read papers. What in the world would you do if they cut your t.v. off? You'd be lost. Wouldn't you? Huh...I live here. I'll be glad to furnish you with any propaganda you'd like to further your political agenda. It'll be all at N/C. You won't even have to bum a ride to go borrow your neighbor's paper.

I realize you don't have any control over gun laws in ill.My husband has a permit to carry and had to drive through there a few months ago,so i did some research, his gun was legal in all the other states but Ill,but ifound out if you carry a pac with the gun and bullets separated[most people who live there do this] they won't bother you.So when he got to the ILL.line he stopped unloaded his gun,put the bullets separate, soon as he got through .he reloaded, the same coming back.A little more trouble but i felt better knowing he had it,at least in the states besides Ill.Have yo researched the laws yourself ?Nevada is the same, but i just worry if he is pulled over at a reststop and someone tried to rob him, otherwise i wouldn't think so much about it.I also forgot the name of the pack people use to separate their guns and ammo, bet a lot don't know about this.people down here,i'm sure most know it up there.

Dont flatter yourself. You have a grossly over inflated ego and overbearing arrogant attitude towards others. For you to think this stuff is being posted for your benefit is ridiculous. The things I post have more to do with informing other people about the type of criminal run city that the present leader of our country comes from. You know the one --the community leader and I certainly dont want to leave his little lapdog Emmanuel out.I could care less whether you read it or not.The city and the state are symbols of mass failures in leadership and government.Inefficiency abounds in both the city and the state.A story is usually on most national news broadcasts two or three days a week. Its a prime example of mass corruption and government failure.Too much government regulation and you cant help but hear about if you watch the news. Its been like that for decades and will continue to do so.Its always about teacher strikes, homicides, strict and ridiculous gun laws, drive by shootings, gang bangers, mass debt, etc.Yep Chicago is always in the news and its never about anything good.If the rest of the country ends up being run like that state and city the US will soon be history and that is not a good thing. So do yourself a favor and quit stop reading the post if you dont like it.

You're really starting to bore me. Don't insult my egotistical attitude and go back to seeing if you can be of assistance cleaning up the Meth in your town...your State being #1 on the Meth list. I'm just on here to inform these good people that you have Mitch in Washington and your newly elected eye doctor and they simply aren't doing anything for your little eat up with Meth town. Per capita, it's really appalling. I now you have better things to do with your life rather than worrying about my city of millions. You couldn't take the heat, so it's best you are where you are....in the hills.

Now if you'll excuse my egotistical, arrogant, disgusting as-, I'll move on to the next one. Again I repeat, you are simply boring me.
