Thank You for letting me know.
I just want to let you know that Laney is in mine and my familes prayers. When my son Matt told me about this it just broke my heart. I can't even begin to imagine what you and his mother must be going through. I wish you all the best and wish Laney a full recovery. I guess you just never know what may happen to your children, I know that I will hold mine closer and tell him I love him a little more often. I pray that God will give you peace and the strengh you need. I would like to bring Matt up to visit but I do not want to impose. If there is anything at all that we can do please let us know. My eamil is [email protected]...
Again my prayers are with you all. And never ever give up hope. Prayers have been answered and stranger things have happend. Just keep believing and telling Laney you love him and let him always know your there.

I don't know you but seen Laney in the newspaper today and my heart broke for him and the parents. I will be praying. I know it seems hopeless but God can still perform miracles. All things are possible to those who believe. Sometimes our prayers seem unanswered but God does hear us. We don't always understand why things like this happen especially to children. I hope the very best for you all. May God hear our prayers.

SLHS student clings to life after allergic reaction

By Tara Kaprowy

South Laurel High School freshman Laney Hall, a loving, generous boy who liked to spend time with friends and never begrudged helping his mother, has spent the last 13 days clinging to life after suffering a severe allergic reaction.

“There can’t be enough prayer,” dad William “Laney” Hall said through tears Tuesday.

The boy, who is exceptionally allergic to milk, fell sick Aug. 29 after drinking a glass of Crystal Light.

“He spent the night at a friend’s house and this was the next day,” his mother Donna Cravens said.“I had just talked to him a couple of hours before and he was fine.”

While still at his friend’s house, Hall, 14, took a tube of strawberry banana crystals, poured them in water and took a sip.

“It wasn’t 10 seconds after he drank it and he knew,” Cravens said.

Hall checked the drink’s ingredients list and discovered that the dairy product whey is included in that flavor of the Crystal Light Hunger Satisfaction brand.

“This was a new product they had out,” Cravens said.“He didn’t know it was different.”

Sensing he was going into anaphylactic shock, Hall immediately called his mother, who raced to the friend’s home with an EpiPen. She found her son shaking in a chair and struggling to breathe.

She injected him with the shot of adrenaline, which serves to open up narrowing airways.

Unlike other times he’d suffered an attack, the injection didn’t have any effect. By the time first responders arrived on scene, Hall had gone into cardiac arrest.

He was taken to Saint Joseph-London and then flown to University of Kentucky Medical Center’s ICU, where he has been for the past weeks.

MRIs have shown Hall suffered several strokes and his brain was damaged from being deprived of oxygen, Cravens said. He was taken off a ventilator Sunday and is breathing on his own, but his parents have been told their son will never regain consciousness.

Cravens said the attack was so severe little could have been done.

“He had such a violent reaction doctors said it wouldn’t have mattered if he were sitting in the emergency room with an EpiPen,” Cravens said.“It was just a mistake. It was just an accident.”

In the meantime, Cravens and Hall are left to cope.

“He helped me out a lot at home,” Cravens said.“He worried about me because I had struggled with cancer. He did really worry about me a lot. I depended on him as much as he depended on me.”

Hall’s parents have set up a Facebook page that contains photos of the boy. Those wishing to send condolences and prayers can either post messages on the page or e-mail [email protected] The Facebook page can best be found by searching for it using the e-mail address.

Laney was in one of my classes, he always kept everybody laughing, and he talked to anybody he was around.
We didn't really talk much, but i've known him since about 7th grade, and he's a really great boy. I pray for him and your family.
God can make miracles happen :)

UPDATE: I am Laney's cousin. I cannot verify the authenticity of the person claiming to be Laney's dad, as Laney's REAL dad lives in Loveland, Ohio, NOT Madison, Alabama. Also, someone claiming to be Laney's dad has been posting misinformation on-line, saying that Laney has passed away. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! Laney IS still in a coma, but he is STILL ALIVE! He was taken off of life support last week. This past Tuesday, he had surgery to have a tracheostomy and permanent feeding tube inserted. He is on a ventilator due to the surgery, but is capable of breathing on his own and will be taken off of the ventilator shortly. His mother, who is at his bedside 24 hours a day, appreciates all the prayers, visits, and kind thoughts from everyone. We are all hoping for his speedy recovery. Thank you.
