Red light cameras on in Lombard, Villa Park

Villa Park and Lombard soon will be collecting green from motorists ignoring red, with the goal of reducing accidents.

To invalidate the village's story that it's about safety, just look for the camera by walmart. If it were about safety they would have permanent camera's by the apartments along ardmore on the north side of town, and along north ave "Safari Land." but according to most of the "new residents" we need more apt's and condo's

I love the way these local governments are constantly looking for ways to shake down their citizens -- most of whom are only trying to get to work every day to earn money to pay taxes to pay the salaries of these greedy money-grubbing local government types.

I rec'd a ticket by Walmart, it was 8:22 am and I was looking to the left, their was not a car in sight, I slowed down, made a rolling right and received my $100.00 ticket within a few days. Last time I went to the walmart, I stopped at the red, no cars to my left again, I was almost rear ended, cars were honking at me, its more of a safety hazard. THEY need to put a sign up "STOP AT RED BEFORE TURNING". I WILL NOT BE SHOPPING AT WALMART AGAIN IN VILLA PARK. Also, I live by Finley and Roosevelt (another redlight) and have seen so many cars almost rear end each other. I believe these redlights will cause accidents. Also, I am on disability and could not buy my medication because I had to pay for a bs ticket.

I too recieved this red light ticket near Walmart,
same circumstance, looked left, no car in sight, did not make a complete stop turning right on red after waiting in a line of 20 cars. I am not from the area, and trust me, I will never go near this Walmart or Villa Park again. Strictly put up there to generate revenue off people who are hard pressed just to pay for gas. What a joke

The red light camera's ARE A HUGE REVENUE SOURCE for these municipality's and will not go away until enough people get ticketed for their "rolling red violations", make demands of their "ELECTED OFFICIALS" (actually serve the people) and maybe vocally boycott those villages until these big brother cameras are removed! Don't tell me it's a safety issue... that's B.S....IT'S GREED!!!

i too received a $100 ticket for the rolling right turn on red by wal-mart, which by the way i will also not shop ever again. every one knows that if a cop or any city of villa park offical does the rolling stop, they will of course get out of the ticket. this is all about revenue so more lazy ass villa park officals ( like the jack ass on one gimp leg in the hearing ) can get paid and retire with huge pensions while they sit on their ass and do absolutely nothing for the world. villa park can suck it!

Be VERY careful at the intersection of Rt. 53 (Rohlwing) and North avenue in Lombard. Even a rolling stop for a right on red will get you a $100 ticket, plus if you don't pay in 3 weeks you get a $100 fine tacked onto THAT!

I have watched these camera flashes going off intermittantly and actually got out of my truck and walked up to the line and guess what?!... noone even near the line! These things are causing more problems than they are worth. Also think about this; If some drunk is hauling ass around town and blowing red lights then kills somebody, where are the cops to stop him prior to killing someone? that's right, they're nowhere to be found because they don't care if you you run that red light, because they have your plate via camera and you'll get the ticket that they didn't have to write, therefore becoming less vigilant and not giving a damn. these things are bs and have no place in society other than as previously stated, unfair revenue builders. By the way you can also thank Comcast for providing the high speed internet that delivers your plate number so expiediently to your door!

Pardon my space bar, no one, as in, no one car stopped near or even with the line, during the red light no other cars approached, and the light for the camera kept flashing, I'm assuming in order to take pictures of the "ghost cars" running the red light. And yes, the cameras do trip too early, I've been paying closer attention to this lately and it seems to be the case at more than one location.

I have timed over 45 Chicago traffic signals and videoed 8 of them.(Google Mrbfagel)A first attempt, subsequent videos are getting better. In 95% of the cases the yellow timing is too short, shorter than the 3 sec. Federal minimum without adding for perception/reaction time. A video of the Camera Flash firing for ghost cars would be a very compelling defense. What intersection and town would that be? Recently a driver in Lake Zurich won in court when it was shown that an untrimmed tree branch obscured a green right turn arrow. The cops didn't notice until it was brought to the court's attention. I wonder how many people just paid the tickets?

Villa Park has seen the last of my tax dollars as I will no longer be shopping in that community. It is very unfortunate that they target the Walmart shopper who is going out of their way to save money. I wonder how many meals they are taking from families tables who truly can not afford to pay such an outrageous amount for a rolling stop on red.
If I were Walmart, I would take action to support my consumers. This needs to be stopped.
