As a personal acquaintance of Mr. Metallo this in no way can be believed. This aide was aware of the Mr. Metallo's financial situation and saw an opportunity to make some quick cash! To defame a man such as this is a travisty! What is wrong with our justice system that allows this to happen! Mr. Metallo was devoted to his wife and family. Anyone who knows him knows that this is a falsehood! The aide should be the one sentenced for defamation of character! To take advantage of an old man at this time - her and the judge should be ashamed of themselves! What a disgrace to the female population of this country that this woman should use her gender financial gain - because it is clear that is what this is all about! Testimony has shown that the investigation was botched! Shame on our justice system!!!

Loving, caring Joe forced his hand down his wife's caregiver's pants and penetrated her. This happened just 10 feet from his dying wife. Did you know the previous two caregivers quit? What did he try with them? The caregiver did nothing but stand up for her rights and, like most rape victims, was treated like she had done something wrong. If Joe was so innocent, why did he clip his nails when the detectives wanted to take them as evidence? Why did Officer Metallo assist in the commission of this felony after the fact? Why did the Lombard Police chief whitewash the internal investigation into his conduct? Why did the caregiver get an anonymous note in the mail from someone in the Lombard Police Department alleging corruption and incompetence in the PD and recommending the caregiver get an attorney? You people are basing your comments on the Joe you think you know and not on the facts. And shame on you for attacking a woman you don't know, who has an affinity for sick people and has never in 30 years of caregiving ever sued anyone or ever been attacked. Think before you blindly blog.

While the personal testimony of previous posters is emotionally convincing, as well as the age of Mr. Metallo making this charge suspicious, I can't help but point out that peoples' personalities are always multi-faceted. An extreme example would be John Wayne Gacy, perceived by the community as a helpfull, kind person volunteering time, effort and money locally. 99% of the people who knew him prior to his conviction would have passionately defended him. Unfortunately it panned out that the remaining 1% were buried in his crawlspace. Mr. Metallos' charges are nowhere near as serious and indeed this is an unfair comparison, but the point remains that we all only know a relatively small amount about the people around us. If the man is innocent I hope he is vindicated fully and seeks compensatory damages. If not then age and social standing is a very weak Defense....

An affinity for sick people? How about an affinity to get rich quick! No, I don't know this so called caregiver, however I do know that when a person see's a vulnerable old man who is loosing his whole world right before his eyes, she used that to her advantage. Further more if she isn't money hungry as PRB0108 said in the blog above, then why does she feel it is necessary to sue the grandson and the LPD? After all they are human to and need to survive. It is bad karma to mess with another persons lively hood. She should feel justice enough, that she basically has put a 82 year old man away for the rest of his life....
SHE IS THE BLACK WIDOW OF CARE GIVING! |

None of you were there, so how can you intelligently comment? I agree that age is no defense. It doesn't make sense, however, that a woman would injure herself, put herself and her family through emotional hell, go through a trial and all the evidence on the ifcome that the Lombard Police might have an officer who is related to the suspect and that Mr. Metallo has money that she might be able to get through another court ordeal. Why sue the grandson? If he destroyed evidence, he needs not only to be sued, but to be fired. Why sue the LPD? If they allowed the grandson to do these things, they're just as guilty. The testimony was also that the detectives left the man alone for 5 hours before they returned with a warrant, giving time to destroy evidence. The LPD is responsible for this incredible mistake (or purposeful act). Sorry, I think Metallo and LPD don't have a lot to stand on and if it happened to you, you'd be singing a different song.

I agree. It doesn't make sense to go through all the investigations, the medical exam the trials etc on the possibility someone might have money. You all put down rape victims when you make these nonsensical statements.

I have known this family for over 36 years. I can safely say that this kind 82 year old gentlemen did not do this act as indicated. I can say with conviction that he was a man who was devoted to his wife to the very end. And I believe the care-giver took advantage of his pain and is just a money hungry B*****. This is something that can destroy this poor old man...but as all of you above say...ya need to feel for a person who works and gets molested...but then, you were not there either!!! were you!!!! I say the justice systems sucks and people who should be in jail are running loose...Our society is going to hell in a handbasket!!!!!

I knew the caregiver and her family the entire time they lived in Naperville. The caregiver is not a money hungry b, as so eloquently stated above. She is a kind, caring person who I would have take care of me or my family in an instant. She only worked two days for Mr. Metallo--how could she possibly know what his financial situation was??? If I were going to pull off this type of scam, I definately wouldn't target a man in his seventies who lives in a blue collar neighborhood and evidences no sign of ostentatious living. I agree with some of the other bloggers. Those that know this man just don't want to believe he did it. They are not objective in their thinking. The judge was an objective person and clearly found the caregiver credible and that there was evidence to support her testimony. Those who are touting the statements that the police messed up the investigation are taking it out of context. The mistakes that were made were in Metallo's favor...and he still got convicted. I fully support the caregiver and she was vindicated in the courtroom. Get past Metallo's age (and by the way, he is not 82, he is in his seventies)and how kindly you remember him. Anyone is capable of doing something stupid. I also find it disgraceful that in the 21st century people are still looking at rape victims as they had it coming and it couldn't possibly be the man's fault.

She is a degenerate, maybe they should see the broken
home she comes from,AND SHE IS JEALOUS hes from a great italian family. |

To the other friend in naperville. Its so nice that you can correct me on ages, even when you are wrong. Maybe you should get over the age. As far as the caregiver, I have been around enough of them to know that they are not the honest people they pretend to be. And I believe this is one of them. Just because you knew the caregiver when she lived in Naperville does not excuse the fact that she could be a conniving B**** She would not be the first to steal or try to get monetary gains from an older person she can put one over on.
I certainly hope the caregiver sleeps at night after all she put this family through!!! |

It seems to me that with Mr. Metallo being convicted on three felony sexual assault counts after a fair and impartial trial he is the degenerate. He is the one who will have to register as a sex offender, not the caregiver. How sad that you think that caregivers are not honest. Make sure when you're sick or dying that you do not use one. As for what the caregiver has put the Metallo family through, you are confused. It is Mr. Metallo and his grandson who put his family through hell. You are obviously friends or family and you can't bring yourself to even think Metallo might have done it, but a respected judge says he did it; the State of Illinois says he did it; the Lombard detectives say he did it and the medical evidence says he did it. And I notice no one has defended his antics with the finger nails and his grandson. And where do you get that the caregiver comes from a broken home?? She has a wonderful family. As for being jealous that her attacker is from a great Italian family, puhleeze!

Hey friend in naperville...you quoted that I should never hope to need a caregiver if I am sick and dying. Well I will tell you, if I am sick or dying, I have "FAMILY" that will be my caregiver. I dont need a "pretend nurse" taking care of me. Also, I have a friend who needed a care giver and we had to fire "HER" she was caught with her hands in the cookie jar!!!! And just in case you dont know what that means......she was caught stealing!!!!!. But then again, you cant generalize all caregivers are the same...but if it looks like a duck...... Get off your high horse on justice. And talk to your friend the caregiver and see why she seems to believe Joe is only in his 70's..........GET A LIFE!!!!

You mean bastardo right? Giuseppe "Polipo" sounds like a lonely old guy with a dying wife who thought he could grab a younger lady without it being a big deal. Unfortunately for Giuseppe, times have changed and una scimmia con gli artigli can expect trouble when he digs around in somebody else's pants. "Amore all'italiana" this is not. |

Metallo hired a "pretend nurse". Apparently his family couldn't handle it. Two prior caregivers left. Gee, were they caught stealing or did something else happen? I don't know what you mean by the b will be sitting behiind bars. Will Joey Junior be manipulating the system again? The caregiver has done nothing illegal and the b word such a subjective term. Sometimes it is more rightly applied to the one using the term.
Blogging about all of this is a waste of energy for all concerned. I am not going to comment anymore. You feel the way you do, but it doesn't change the facts. You all love Metallo because he is family, but the evidence that he attacked a woman who was caring for his dying wife was enough to get him convicted. No evidence was given that the nurse's aide had any other motive than caring for the dying wife. The woman filed a lawsuit over one year after the attack because she was tipped off that the Lombard Police Department and Junior Metallo had destroyed evidence and were impeding the investigation. What else was she supposed to do? Somehow I think you would have done the same. You hate the caregiver because you have blind faith in the old man. I suspect that even if the prosecution had pictures of the attack you would say they were phony. Nothing anyone says will change your minds. Perhaps other than the disgraceful comments you have made you are decent people, but the fact remains: Joe Metallo was found guilty on three charges. He fondled her breast, he put his hands down her pants, he scratched her and penetrated her. An impartial judge found him guilty of this. Joey Jr's fellow officers testified that Joey impeded the investigation. These are facts. Your attacks on the caregiver are in line with the traditional male defense of a rape charge--somehow, the woman is responsible. She is not responsible. She did nothing wrong. Joe and Joe Jr were wrong. They broke the law. Your hate for this woman is misguided and misplaced. Why don't you sit the Joe's down and demand the truth. I truly will keep you all in my prayers and hope that you will someday accept the truth. |

To also friend in Naperville. I dont generalize all care givers, just this one. When speaking with her, did she inform you that she was fired from her position after 3 days and obviously was very upset because of this. If this actually happened as she states, she must have enjoyed a dirty old man putting his hands on her breast and then giving him enough time to put his hands down her pants. I dont know about you, but I would have pushed him away when he touched by breast. I would never had given him the time to put his hands down my pants. Also, he penetrated her, "HOW", did she lie down and let him "SCREW" her...exactly what penetration happened here?
You all can blame this defenseless man, but it all comes down to a person seeking revenge. I also would like to state, that this care giver was referred by someone in the family, so she knew the family was well to do...so the crock about "how would she know if the family was well to do", now you all know how she knew this. I and the rest of the family will sleep quite well, knowing that he will be vindicated and she will have her day in court again...this time maybe she will be the one paying to be out on bail. I dont symathize with her at all...... GET A LIFE!!!! |

Well, I said that I wasn't going to write anymore, but your tasteless, inaccurate little ditty begs one final response.
1. She was not fired. No one fired her or indicated any problem with her. His daughter-in-law Grace indicated total surprise when she was contacted and told the caregiver would not return. 2. She did not know the family at all. Metallo's daughter in law heard of her through a fellow customer at a hair salon. Total strangers. And by the way, the other customer gave her rave reviews. This person is an educator and a doctor and beyond reproach. Interesting how you state these things as facts, by neither items were presented at trial by the defense. Nada. Nothing. It was not presented because it wasn't true. Your comments regarding whether she enjoyed it and whether she "screwed" the old man are repugnant and indicate a socio-pathic anti-female bias. Is this a Metallo family trait? Have fun deceiving yourselves. The more you write, the more you show what the Metallos are really all about. |

I am the victim's daughter. I am a victim, too. If you could of seen the hurt in my house since this happened, you would know this really happened. My mom is a honest and caring person. She would not hurt me for the world. She would not make up a story that caused so much heartache for me. My grades went down, I didn't want to go to school. Do you know how many times I looked out the window to see if someone was coming to hurt me? Do you know how many times I went to sleep at night listening to my mother's tears. I had to grow up alot in the past 20 months. No 8th grader should have to go through this. You all should look inside your hearts. God help you all.

All I can say is that Joe is the most caring loving, giving and the best neighbor anyone can have. My family loves Joe and if he needs anything we will be there for him.
