Mr. Burgess is not going to make it on next election's slate if he keeps writing letters to the editor. If he is not going to help steal the residents of Logan County blind by helping to pad the payroll, he's not going to make it in Logan County politics.

I always look foward to this time of the year when we pay our taxes. NOT! I always feel like I've been raped after I leave the Courthouse tax office.

Read his letter to the editor in Sunday's Logan Banner.

He will go down in history as one of the best board members. He is honest, blunt and is the only one on the board that doesn't kiss ass.
We will have the chance in the next election, to chance the majority and get some things done, since 3 seats (Wolfe, Davis and Lambert)will be up.
I have heard that they almost have to lead granny around the room; but she has won her last term, since she voted for Wilma's raise.

he is a radicul and always has been. He will never change. Always causing trouble no matter where he's at, school as a teacher or on the board as a member.

Is someone a radical because they stand up for what they believe in even when it goes against the majority? Is someone a trouble maker just because they don't let the politics of this one horse town frighten them? There may be more than a few tax paying citizens who are sick & tired of simply ACCEPTING the fact that they are deemed powerless, constantly being pushed around, constantly having their opinions IGNORED & forever just allowing those in power to do as they please. When using taxpayer dollars, public entities SHOULD ALWAYS be held accountable. I've always heard that the truth hurts, so if that is the case, I suppose here comes trouble.(The public welcomes it)(insert applause here)!!

i agree 100%.people wanna talk bad about moss because hes trying to do something good for logan co instead of running with the good ole boy politics.seems like when you do something good for this county your thrown under the bus.just like when they get on here and talk bad about people that turn drug dealers in to the police but very few say anything bad about the dealers.makes no sense at all.keep up the good work moss, logan co.needs a true voice instead of the old eight tracks over and over.

The man spoke the truth. That makes him a radical? I doubt that. He has the nerve to stand up to those hypocrites on the BOE and he deserves all the credit in the world. He says what most people are afraid to say. You have no ideal how Logan County Schools treats it's employees. That is, unless you're in a 'clique' full of sucks who are afraid of losing their positions. Evidently, that doesn't concern Mr. Burgess. Good for him.

Just the facgt that he won his seat by 300 votes over the machine pick who spent 5 times the amount he did to get elected ought to show the politicans that the county is ready for a change.

It took Moss many, many years to obtain his seat on the board. Now that he is there, I hope the people of Logan County keep him there forever.

I have not worked in Logan Co. for over ten years, but for the 17 years that I did work for the BOE (teacher), Moss was ALWAYS there to help and support you if you had a problem.

He speaks his mind. He's not afraid to stand up for what is right, eventhough it makes him unpopular with the "powers that be".

It's a shame he can't be cloned.

BTW, no one has mentioned who the two positions went to. The BOE web site hasn't posted a personel schedule since May, and there was nothing in the Banner. Or did I miss it?

Mike Johnson from Logan Grade got Special Ed and Adkins the principal from Omar got Patty YOungs old job over TItle I that was smart, putting her in charge of millions seeing that she got in trouble in another ocunty over money. Johnson has never dealt with federal, he'll have to be trained.
Also, the positions were filled and a lot of principals were more experienced. I know Adkins kisses butt but she will travel all over the world on the Title I money and more than likely eat Wilma a live. She's a cougar. Funny cuz Wilma nominated her for Principal of the Year and I think she got it LOL
MOSS does what he can. He's out voted but stands up for what is right. Things will change when the other three are voted out. I wish Moss was president of the BOE or Superintendent.

This is what I "heard". Don't jump on me.

The first position for the Title I director was filled because that person retired.

The second position, the one Moss wrote about, was created by splitting the duties of a position that was overwhelmed by work. Other than the person in charge, more than one person was trying to keep up with all the paper work. That person or persons was/were taking on addtional work for which they were not paid.

That is what I heard.

I can sort of beleive it. Our high school counselors are worked to death. Administration will add just "one more little task" to their duties. Never mind that the "little task" has to be performed for every student: 100 times, 400 times, 600 times. Not jumpng the administration either. Their orders are passed from the central office, from Charleston, and then from Washington.

Jim Guy was over special ed. and transportation for the past 2 years and Debbie W. was his assistant. What did Jim G. take on, since he gave up sp. ed. That is creation of an additional position. David Godby only had one assistant and Wilma has 2 who make $88,000-90,000 a year. Along with her raise, this makes $180,000 for the assistants and $160,000 for the two new directors.
so what

is this all you people have to do is set and figure out WZ salary and her assistants salaries? Get a life and try getting a salary of your own and stay out of peoples business!

When it is taxpayer money and we pay taxes it is everyone's business. The taxes from OUR salaries pay their salaries. It's the bizz with anyone working FOR the public. Sorry, next argument please? A logical one??(one besides stay out of our business and let us do as we please with taxpayer dollars)

Mr. Burgess taught me chemistry in high school, I voted for him and think he is a very honest man. It is hard for someone with his qualities to go into politics because he is not dishonest, a liar, etc. He is really trying to make a difference with out kids. He has many many years of classroom experience and knows what our children need. I admire him because he wants those at the boards office to be accountable for the outrageous amounts of money they spend. They constantly go to so called "training sessions" at fancy resorts. They will send the dinosaur principals that should have been put to pasture. I just wish he could do what it takes to clean that mess up at the boards office without being hasseled. I hope he continues to stand up for our kids because those at West Logan sure as hell do not care. They just want their big paychecks before they go on retirement. Everyone knows that is why they take these director jobs. Look at someone like Mike Johnson, he has NO experience with special ed but yet they hired him to be their director. As for Darlene Adkins, she made a mess in Lincoln Co. then came to our county. Of course they made her a director also. I guess to get ahead in this county you have to be a total idiot and screw up. People , get your heads out of your asses and wake up and smell the coffee. Please watch who you vote in on the board because they are the ones putting these morons in important positions.
