There were so many good players, especially slow-pitch. Art Kirkendoll played both--extremely well. Names that come to mind: Brad Wooten, Barry Jewell, Chuck Napier, Max Stollings, Ralph Cook, Jeff Swanner, Bill Runyon, Don Browning, Larry Brammer. Best pitchers in slow-pitch were Bob Meade, Dwight Williamson and Bob Kolovich.

Those where the days, the early 70's and some of us back from Vietnam, funny how no one has mentioned BIG SEED ADAMS, he could hit a country mile, I played on a team out of Island Creek, sponsor's were Montior Drive Inn and then Danny's Shell Station, I had caught a year of fast pitch in The Army and trying to get used to slow pitch behind the plate was an experience, so I moved to second base

Seed Adams was great. The Babe Ruth of Whitman softball. Outfielders just leaned on the fence when he came to bat.
Kirkendoll hit the ball really hard and had a great arm.
Bob Meade was a terrific slow pitch pitcher, unbelievablely, he could put 'stuff' on the ball.
Dale Lucha was the best left handed hitter. He hit line drive doubles and triples nearly every at bat.
THe George boys could fly. They would pound the ball in the dirt and beat it out nearly every time.
Swanner and Wooten were great too.
I miss those days.
