What possible reason or justification could there be for ANY state education group have for a trip to Italy? This is an appalling waste of tax dollars which should be used for EDUCATION,not RECREATION. This is by far one of the stupidest wastes of money I've heard about so far.

I agree with you. Government waste makes me sick. The more citizens are informed about these trips the better chance of getting the abusers out of office ASAP,

Yes, do tell, I'm extremely interested. If this is true there should be a revolt! The money should be used on the kids not the so called big shots at the BOE office!!!!!

And China....they are all getting to tour the world on the fallacy that it helps teachers become better and they supposedly tour the schools from each country. However, I have not seen any inservices or other staff development that involved any of the trips taken thus far. Hmmmmmm........

This trip is from Title I money. It has to be used in a certain fashion. Yes, they could stretch it and do a trip like this but if they were really concerned about our teachers and students that have Title I federal money at their school they would use this money directly on the students. This will never happen, this is Logan Co. Darlene Adkins and Title I director Rebecca McNeely. As long as Wilma is at the helm these foreign trips will continue. There is nothing we can gain from Italy.

Also found this on the BOE site, please read:

Title I - Darlene Dingess-Adkins, Director and Rebecca McNeely, Title I Coordinator request professional leave/travel expenses to travel to Pittsburg, PA by rental car and then to Reggio, Italy by airplane with travel time from April 9-23, 2012, to participate in the Reggio Study Abroad Program sponsored by WV University and the WV Department of Education, with expenses being paid by Title I and Title II funds;

This is absurd! Everyone should call the BOE office to inquire about the validity of this request and then voice their opinion - of course, we could vote out the current board members if this is approved.

You jealous dingleberrys need to shut your pieholes. This trip will be very educational, and using the trickle down theory, very benificial to logans kids. I know it's hard for you to understand, but some people leave the farm for a trip.
The next scheduled trip is the one i want to see moved up [Thailand]Thats where they will learn new and exciting ways to punish troublemakers and thier parents
