I like the mixed format on WVOW, I think it works well for a small town radio that is the only game in town so to speak.
Just way too many commercials. They can do so many since they are the only tree in the forest.

it's called WHAT'S YOUR OPINION? NOT---GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT! OMG people this is a show on the radio where you can call up and talk about what YOU want to talk about. Who are you all too tell the radio station to block it???? Who are you to tell him NOT to call. If you don't like it...you are able enough to turn the radio off! How stupid can you all get?!?!

I agree with "just so you know." The show is for OPINIONS of local citizens, and their ideas, it's not a news show. In America, we are at liberty to speak our opinions, unlike countries that you can get hung or imprisoned for saying anything negative against the government. My "personal opinion" is that anybody that disagrees with that right is usually somebody that would support dictatorship ideas and does not support the idea of being free, but would rather everyone be forced to live and be entirely the same according to a specific standard. In Iraq during Hussein's reign, anyone who disagreed with the government was executed, and the former Soviet Union, and the same with many other current governments. I'm glad I don't have to worry about the government coming after me if I said something that disagreed with current policies. If you don't agree with a caller to that show, call in and give a rebuttal or use the switch that turns the radio off.

I agree. You want people to block it because you don't agree with it? I don't agree with him usually either but he sounds halfway intelligent which is more than most of them do.

<quoted text>What is wrong with all you people? We get someone on who can show up SPEEDY AND THE GANG, WHO REALLY KNOWS MORE THAN THEY DO, AND THEY CAN'T STAND IT. THATS THE FACTS.
Thank you for that comment ......At least Tim is giving "his opinion". That is the name of the show. Is it not? Not "SPEEDY'S OPINION OR BOB'S OPINION". They always try to interject their opinion as law and gospel with each topic. Let's face it people, as I said the name of the program is 'WHAT'S YOUR OPINION' not the station personalities opinion. If you don't want to solicit opinions don't go on the air. Period. Just have a 1/2 show titled Speedy and Bob's Opinions.

This guy "Tim" is not local by any stretch of the imagination. "Tim" is not even his real name. The fact of the matter is, he is a sitting board member on the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition , the very anti-coal group in Huntington. I think that explains his "opinions" he tries to force on the show on a regular basis.See link , he's in the picture:http://www.ohvec.org/g alleries/people_in_action/2004 /01_19/index.html

In My Opinion

United States

Do you really think that Speedy is giving his own true opinion? WRONG! Most of the time he picks the side of a topic that will most likely infuriate the people listening. In other words, he wants to get a rise out of them, to get some reaction to cause people to call in. It's one thing to have people listening (and they are) but it's quite another to have people call in about a topic. Granted, a couple of the announcers there are bleeding-heart liberals whose own personal beliefs are radically different from their conservative audience. But it is a call-in show and they need calls.

I think it would be even better if the show was called "In My Opinion." Then you could let the announcers spew whatever thoughts come to their minds and see how the public reacts, but that's not what's being done currently.

Any objection to mining, deep mining, strip mining or mountaintop removal is always going to get a rise out of the working people of Logan County who truly realize what coal means to our area - everything! And, yes, that topic will always get the phones ringing!

WVOW is the worst station ever!! Speedy is a smart a$$! Every time I call in to Whats your Opinion, they never let me talk about what I want to talk about! So I rely on this Ghetto Newspaper to express my views and opinions. The friendly neighbor show on Saturday mornings is truely by far the worst bunch of crap I've ever heard!!! Whoever told those people that they can sing, should be drug out in the street and beat! They should be dropped off in Draper on a hot summer day. The crackheads would stick those banjos up their bluegrass a$$.

Well the only thing that's worth listening to is what's your opinion, or the trading post. They're both pretty funny. I love to hear what locals have to say, but the only problem is that it doesn't last long enough. Especially "What's your opinion", I would love for it to be on a while longer! By the time they speak in the beginning and give the topic, there's only enough time for a couple calls! I want to hear more!! COME ON WVOW, LETS HEAR MORE OF THIS AND LESS MUSIC AND COMMERCIALS!!! PLEASE!!

Ask the T.E.A. party participants if the U.S. government hasn't come after them and slandered them, accused them of being nazi's, rednecks with small brains, and other derogatory words. They call them Tea baggers which is a sexual derogatory statement. They have a right to speak as well but are talked down for doing it because the liberal media doesn't agree with their opinions.
Liberal talking points: Meat is murder but aborting a million babies is fine.

The Republicans had control of the White House and Congress for eight years and did nothing about the abortion issue. The way they murder now is to fight hard to deprive critical healthcare to millions. When 2012 rolls around, I hope they don't trot out the abortion and gay marriage issues again, because people have gotten wise to them, and it doesn't work anymore.
