Has the cases been confirmed?? Maybe the parents need to get together and go to the board and see what they are going to do, before this gets out of hand.. There was a 14 year old boy that died from the swine flu a couple of days ago. He went to Cabell Midland...

People, the swine flu is everywhere, not just LHS. Where you have alot of people in a close area you are gonna be exposed. Just take as many precautions as you can and be careful.

Close the schools, why??? everyone is still going out somewhere. you still go to walmart or somewhere to eat don't you, school is not the only place to get it. Keep your kids home if sick and take all precautions to help prevent this from spreading

Hey i am just like you, i am also scared to death as well, but i guess the only thing that we can do is keep our hands washed and our children. I have two sons, and one is 16 and in High school, and a 5 year old in Kindergarten. i guess the only thing that we can do is if they show any sympton's of getting sick is to take them straight to the Hospital. I wish that i could just keep my babies at home and not have to send them to school at all right now, but i also know that they can be exposed to it anywhere, or someone else come to my house that maybe has been exposed to it, or catching it at church, the grocery store or anywhere else.

I heard a doctor make the comment that he did not know why everyone was trying to run from the swine flu that everyone was going to end up getting it, If not this year, then next year.
I have children in pre-K,1st,3rd,6th,7th,and 10th, so we are pretty well surrounded right now.AND YES I AM SCARED ALSO! But I guess some cases well be worse just like the reg Flu,and Other than school just keep our children home, warm, and give the extra vitiamn's including Vitiamn C to help boast thier immune system, and was their hands as much as we can or use hand santizer. AND PRAY!

RUMOR has it that 17 kids have the virus and when it reaches 20 they close the schools. I hope everyone makes it through this after all our children are our future which makes me ask the question WHY is it that when it comes time to get the over the counter medication that will save their lives parents act like they cannot purchase it. can you really put a price tag on your childs life. I understand that that may be their last dollar but money comes and goes your children have only one life and they depend on parents to protect and look after them. I pray for all the children that are sick and hope they feel better. p.s. it's wonderful to see that they are parents who care about the kids! We need more like you

I take my kids to dr goliath and he said he will NOT give the swine flu shot to his patients... they dont even know what to look for as side effects to this shot.... so if they dont know what they are looking for then how would they know how to treat u if u had a side effect to this shot.... swine flu is so different from regular flu just as many as people die when they go untreated..... the government has done nothing more but scare people into getting this swine flu shot that they know nothing about.... ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY .... PEOPLE WAKE UP.... MY KIDS WILL NOT GET THIS NEW SHOT THEY HAVE GOTTEN THE REGULAR FLU SHOT AND THATS ALL THEY NEED... I AM WITH THE Doctor on this one... it is rediculous the way people are acting

according to the banner there has been 12 kids testing positive, but has to be confirmed by CDC, but a lab employee at LRMC to me that the CDC asked them not to send them any tests for confirmation and that they have too many to do. So,
unless it is confirmed, they won't close the Logan schools. Catch 22.

I am scared to death about this SWIN FLU!!! My daughter was going to start Kindergarten this year but the day before school was going to start they had a new report about the swin flu, as to how bad it was going to get. My husband and I was terrified for our daughters saftey, so we made a choice not to send her this year for her health. She is only 5 years old and just turned that at the end of July. Before anyone says that was the wrong decision and that they can get it anywere, this is true that they can get it anywere but. You have to think that when we send our kids to school you are not sure that they are sanatizing the school good, not making them wash there hands, another parent that just don't care sends there sick kids to school and kids being kids will cough in there face, cough on something and your kids touch it and not pay attention and put there hands around there mouth, and that is all it takes. When a child is with a responible parent we can make sure all is being done to keep them protected from this monster of a flu. You can keep your kids safer than any school ever could. As for you being able to catch it anywere that is true but my family don't go now unless we have to and when we do we touch as little stuff as possible and use hand sanitizer while we are in the store and no longer than we get out plus wash our hands with dial soap when we get home plus take a bath to kill any germs that they might be. I know that our house is as clean and germ free as possible, no one can say this about a school. If a person is sick we don't get around them that is how you keep on spreading it back and forth. We also cut out movies and restaurants or any other unnecessary things, we only do the necessary things like the grocery store, and our daughter stays with my mom and we make sure we are as sanitized as possible. I think that any parent that has a child that is 5 should really consider pulling kids out of school they don't have to go until they are 6 years old, so why put them at risk of getting this flu when we have a choice of keeping them home and keeping our kids safe. I do think the schools should be closed until they know more about this flu and know for sure how to treat it, or until flu season is gone, for the saftey of our children. Too if your child is 5 we can teach them just as much in the safty of a clean home. ONE MORE THING, WHAT A GOOD PRESIDENT WE HAVE ONE THAT DOESN'T CARE!! I PRAY HE DOESN'T GET BACK IN OFFICE NEXT ELECTION, HE HAS DONE NOTHING AT ALL FOR OUR COUNTY!!!

You can keep them at home.... just go to the BOE ...talk to the attendance director... tell them you want to home school your child... fill out the paper work and there you have it you can keep your children at home... just remember you are then responsible for teaching your child..... good luck... it may be worth it
