Wow, Delta MUST pay well. The DC-3 uses as much oil per hour as my little airplane uses gas!

Something tells me this was one of those anti-gummint guys who felt the local rules didn't apply to him. But COOL airplane!

Hopefully Delta or any other airline never puts this nut in a cockpit with peoples lives in his hands ever again.

I have to disagree with you on this one. Why is it OK for Police Officers to intentionally badger, demean and provoke those receiving tickets; cops can do their job and prove their authority without using “snarky attitudes & unnecessary rudeness!!” If the pilot in question copped an attitude because the cop yanked his chain, it doesn’t mean he is not fit to fly, it just proves he is human & the cop didn’t have his morning doughnut.

So, let me get this straight. If you don't like the cop's attitude, you get to try to kill him with your airplane. I'd bet you don't have any policeman friends. Does this mean that passengers are free to assault the flight crew if they don't like their attitude? Why do you condone criminal behavior just because the man in question is one of your good ol' boy pilots? Is there NO crime you can't excuse because someone is a pilot?

To; ANGELWINGS;
Are you on crack?
A pilot has to show better self control than what this idiot did no matter who he/she flies for. This guy should never be put in charge of an airplane again ! As a matter of fact, I'm not sure if he should even be put in charge of a bus.

ALPA is working full time ginning up an excuse for them. I'm sure they will blame it on pilot fatigue and low pay. Apparently neither of these factors existed until just recently and are now causing 100% of pilot screw-ups. Always remember ALPA rule #1: "Pilot's are not culpable for ANY accident". It is the evil airline industry management that causes all incidents and accidents.

This story is hinky!

Dan is a cool, laid back guy. Easy going, good hearted, talented musician and pilot, outgoing, loves to laugh. He is a well known pilot who owns, flies, shows, and teaches other people how to fly one of the few DC3 planes in the world. He is accustomed to driving on the taxiway to layout practice patterns, etc. at this very "airport", which is actually a 3700 foot airstrip that handles just a few recretational and small commercial flights each day. In fact when I went to the flight tracker Thursday, there was only one flight on the schedule. 45 minutes wouldn't disrupt much of anything, and probably was the only thing that kept staff from snoozing that day.

I do not believe that Dan tried to run over the police, and I don't think he threatened them. I think he was annoyed that the police were ticketing him for something he does regularly, and the police were annoyed they didn't get the respect they think they deserve.

Dan could have handled this much better, I'm sure, but this story is definitely hinky.
