I hear what you're saying, but it works both ways. I've seen bikers speeding, weaving in and out of traffic..let's get the word out to EVERYONE.

Bikers need to understand that you have to have mufflers on your bikes, that means NO cut off pipes, your loud annoying bikes are not welcome by everyone. If you are afraid of not being seen then don't ride the bikes and stay off the road.

I am glad to see that someone realizes the dangers of drivers NOT SEEING motorcycles. My son was hit headon by an SUV making a left turn across his path and died from the injuries. He was in his legal lane and doing everything properly. Things happen but I am afraid there will be many more motorcycle accidents this year from people not paying attention.

I have never ridden a bike, but from what I see, it's not the big bike (Harley) riders who are dangerous as much as it is the 20-something year-olds on crotch rockets. Far too often I've seen them speeding, popping wheelies, passing into oncoming traffic and passing between cars headed in the same direction. Just be anywhere near the Summit (more than a mall but still a joke) on any given Wednesday when there is a Cruise Night and you'll see what I mean. Ya, the big bikes are noisy, but it does help in being aware that they are nearby.

I'm seriously considering getting a motorcycle, but the truth is when I see the people ignore, cut-off, and tailgate my 4x4 pickup, I can imagine riding among these motorists on a bike!

I hope ALL drivers can be more careful this summer.

Dear cycle drivers,
WARNING: people of western NY are horrible drivers. Your choice to drive a cycle impairs your longevity. Try not to die.

Twice I've considered getting a bike, but both times, within days of starting to look, I've had friends seriously hurt it bike accidents. I'm sure that riding a bike has a free or liberating feel to it, but you are left so vulnerable to injury when in an accident. And you can't just worry about yourself, you have to worry about the other guy as well. People don't even see cars when they pull in front of them, why should we be surprised when they pull out in front of a bike.

I agree, except I think horrible drivers are everywhere, not just WNY. I lived in a number of places and it seems each place claims to have the worst drivers. Bikers, use caution -- as should everyone.

Driving down rte 20 on sunday afternoon I Always see a group of motorcycles at a bar on southwestern and abbott road. could it be that they are all sitting at the bar drinking pepsi or coke. I very much doubt it. It is scary.

Not all sport bike riders (crotch rockets as a lot of people call them) in their 20s are maniacs. There are way more car accidents in a day than motorcycle accidents, so that should tell you something, it’s just motorcycles leave you a lot more venerable. When you ride, you have to trust no one because no one sees you , and even when they do, they seem to ignore you. Please don’t tailgate riders give us some room you can kill before you even know what happened. Also the size of a bike gives an illusion they are further away and going slower than what they really are going, so many factors involved here. Most people I know that ride that have had incidents will admit it was partly their fault, if not fully 70% of the time, but those are not the bad incidents.

I am allways aware of mororcycles ,but some of those idiots on their bikes must think they are invincible. just yesterday an older guy on a Harley, not some young kidd, came from the left , cut me off and I had to hit the brakes of my husbands 1/2 ton truck so hard, that my little girl allmost fell out of her carseat, thanks you you moron on the black Harley, who turned from NF Boulevard towards the Summit Mall, Saturday at about 2 pm, next time it might be an 18 wheeler and he won't be able to stop.

Many valid points, and alot of stupid ignorance, just like on the road, there are alot of mindful drivers who are looking out for others, and others. Whether on a bike or in a car, if you're a reckless menace, somebody probably ought to shoot you. We all need to watch what we're doing ourselves, and be AWARE of who/what else is on the road ALL around us. And I ride a bike.

How many pick-up trucks, and cars are in that parking lot? Are you saying it's ok to drive drunk, but motorcycles shouldn't be allowed at bars... "ohhh... that's scarry... boo hoo." go get a reality check! bill wrote: Driving down rte 20 on sunday afternoon I Always see a group of motorcycles at a bar on southwestern and abbott road. could it be that they are all sitting at the bar drinking pepsi or coke. Budwieser isn't even real beer, its yellow dye, carbonation and ethanol....
