You didn't answer the question. And BTW, right now I'd rather live in Lockport than Homer Glen.

There are issues that will not be resolved until after the referendum passes, specifically the border issue. D92 and D33C will be impacted by the border issue. I would assume that there are a lot of voters in favor of the referendum that live in these school districts. I do not want my children to be separated from their friends that they meet in grade school and junior high because they live on the wrong side of the boundaries for the new school. Since this issue will not be resolved prior to the referendum I do not support this referendum as it stands.

I do believe that there is a need for another school and I am strongly in favor of this but why two four-year high schools? Why not have one school to house freshmans and sohpmores and one school for juniors and seniors? Before we go and seperate our children from their friends why not come up with a plan that benefits everybody?

I am a graduate from Lockport and I believe that Lockport is a great high school with lots to offer to our children. I am sure there would be more support of the referendum if the border issue were dropped. Since I do not think this will happen, more than likely my children will not attend Lockport high school.

Ok, I agree with the new school, but the borders need to be fair, The east should not house all the Fairmont and Crest Hill students. This is what Homer Wants. I do not agree.

Maybe a letter to the editor regarding this particular issue utilizing the points I made toPlainfield's County Board Rep over in the other forum would be appropriate about now, especially coming from my new address?

It sure is nice of those snobby Homerians to want to put all the low income people from Fairmont and sections of Crest Hill and Lockport into one school, and allow their "rich" children to go to an all white preppy school. I think that all the children should go to one school, together. Maybe a little dose of culture will open the eyes of these snobby Homerians. And by the way, stop trying to tell Lockport what to build. I hope that every bix box warehouse is built along the Homer boarder, so they can look at it and cry while the Lockport residents reap the tax benefits.

We have plenty of culture! You can't see through your own racism and bias to see how Lockport WILL benefit from this new school and your statements prove you don't know what you are talking about. And for the record, there may be SOME snobby Homerians, but they are by far the minority. Most of us are just regular joes trying to pay our mortgage and our taxbill. Open your eyes, we all want the same thing, a new school that everyone in the district will benefit from. I don't care if warehouses border Homer, I wish Homer would get some warehouses themselves. Maybe then we'd get some property tax relief. Instead we get nothing. So Build away Lockport! I say go for it. But in the meantime, quit complaining about the new school. We need it because of all the housing developments that Lockport has approved...not HOMER! HELLO!

I'm trying to understand all the pros and cons of this referendum. The info on the LTHS website is biased. Can someone break it down for me? And what is the plan for the old lockport central building once this new school is open?

It's all pros. The only cons would be if it fails and the district implements split-shifts.

Bottom line,$60 the first two years,$20 each year thereafter. It's a deal, and the residents need to get behind this once and for all.

I think the only way i would vote yes is if the new school was truly going to benefit my kides, i pay $11,000 in taxes and if this school isnt going to benifit them theres no way im going to pay more

I believe that you are ill informed, misinformed, or simply uninformed. None-the-less, the information you are basing your opinion on is severely flawed because it is false.
Someone who can explain it, or cares to, please provide this individual with an edumuncation on the topic.

We need the school, we also need the boundries to be fair. I am in favor of Lower classmen in one and Upper Classemen in another.

A community is based on the people and education it turns out.

It is the fairest way to make the community come together.

Homer does want it's own school, we all know that. We also know that a majority of the resisdents see this as a way to break away from Lockport. It is sad but true.

It's not true. It's an assumption based on lack of information. The plan is for a 2/2, for a limited number of years because anything longer just doesn't make common sense and is not FEASIBLE. The ONLY people who want a permanent 2/2 are Lockport residents who "don't wan't to pay for Homer's school". Got news for ya. You don't, and you won't. Homer pays 2/3 of the district's EAV. That means WE subsidize EAST, in addition to the new school. Educate yourself on the facts before you speak.

I don't want a school "just for Homer". I want a new school period. I don't care who goes to it, and I will bet money the MAJORITY of Homer residents feel the same way.

Why don't you come to one of the forums and tell the school board face to face how you really feel?

I will support the new school....but I am also concerned about the boundaries, my kids go to D92 and I think that would suck if some of their friends go to a different school. My sons best friend lives in Woodbine and probably would go to the new school.

I really think they need to have more info on the boundaries, but I guess they learned their lesson the last time
