[Transparency]

i believe in the venting process. I believe the public has a right to know all backgrounds of who is handling the funding of our city. I believe it should be an ordinance that people have a background check before they are allowed to run for public office. I think if teachers need it, people who work in jewelry stores, etc. than why not the people who are handling the city's funds? What do you think and why? I also believe this should apply to everyone that is running for office in our town. If you have nothing to hide, why would you care?

I agree with you. I have always thought this process is imperative to good clean transparent city government. I do not wish to talk about national politics because it is a constant worry to me to get new leadership on our city council and elect a new mayor but certainly not from this majority. I have watched them and am less than impressed with the trickery that has gone on in this past year. I look around and see no progress to date and when my vote comes to the ballot box it will be anyone that runs against this present majority who have not done anything for this town. Are you any better off than you were a year ago? I do not think so and this town sits back and watches other towns prosper and get restaurants and developments and we get none!

Would that be made public by a Freedom of Information Act? It certainly would be the skids on a lot of people running for office? I am all for it!

I am all for transparency. I noticed we have none this time around in the city council. We hope to get some honest replacements for those two older gents that are way pass their prime in politics. We need some new blood on this council with some transparency. I believe in background checks. It would appear to me to be the best idea. I am going to write Springfield and ask if there are ways to do that for city government. It is way overdue in people representing the public. Why don't we know their complete backgrounds when they are running. It seems only right in my view. If you join me in this thinking, do something about it. At the very least, insist you know the background of those running for office. They are representing the city and have control of the budgets, this year anyway, and they also have control of the funds of our city. Certainly, it makes sense to have these people tell you who they are and where they were born and raised. They also should specify their education and their working history. If they hide the facts about themselves, you have a right to ask them the facts. I would not vote for anyone that hides their past!! If you go for any job, you have to present a complete resume. If you want the job, you will do that. The same should hold true for the job of a city council member or a mayor!

This is an intellectual statement and you cannot expect this majority and its leader to understand it. They have no transparency. They only know tricks! This scares the h**l out of them!

Yes for transparancy! Why stop at politicians? I pay the teachers, police, and fireman salaries. I want background checks on all of them at my disposal. These dirtbags are taking my hard earned money. I should at least have the right to know how much they make, if they are christian, if they donate to Al Quaida! FULL TRANSPARENCY!!!!

They will be vented to the public by others who have the complete information. It will be an overhaul for government and rightly so. We are preparing already to get some leadership in this town and tell the voters everything in a grass roots effort. It is going to be something completely truthful, something they never have done or will do. It is to vent every person running and tell the people that this town will be working again for them if they vote correctly this time around! No more lies! No false promises! And know where their taxpayer money has gone! No free deals, no tax dollars given back (IT IS ALL THEIR MONEY), and be an informed voter! Ask questions, and get answers! If anyone has something to hide they will talk about the other guy not themselves! It is an old trick! No more tricks! When you are in politics you have to share all the information about yourself not just what you want! You are under the microscope! This time around we will make sure everybody gets the word out about the candidates! We are looking forward to it!

Jack you must not be aware there is a website you can go to for teachers, another for city employees ( police, public works, etc.) and another for the FD. Or you do the FOIA them and they will be provided.

Before this new majority took office there was transparity with the money the City spent. It was all on the cities web site. Now there is nothing. You can't even get one of them to answer a question honestly. It's amazing how those 5 can sit there and claim they totally agree with each other. Everything sounds rehearsed. It blows my mind that they sit back and follow the orders of Turner who is a dope. These are GROWN ADULTS have some thoughts of your own. Why would they run for office to just sit there and be puppets? Why would someone waste their time? More importantly, how in the HELL was Turner able to find the only 4 people in this town dumb enough to let him make fools of them like this? These four look ridiculous!

How did Turner get these people to go his way? He designed and paid for all of the mailing by Maryknowski and Fentress. Who gave Turner the money for the mailings? It was none other than Tom Kelly and Robinson Engineering.

With the redistricting of the wards Tom Kelly and Dick Van Dyke are ripe for defeat. It is up to the voters to see that Van Dyke and Kelly are not re-elected. We are stuck with Turner, Fentress and Maryknowski for another three years. Once again, it is up to the voters to make sure that Turner isn't elected Mayor in 2013.

If everything falls in place as it should then Turner, Maryknowski and Fentress become non-entities on the council. I believe Fentress will disassociate himself from Turner after the election and begin to listen to reason. As for Maryknowski, there's no hope. She's going to continue to look and sound like an idiot while kissing the godfather's finger for her final two years.
