Could you fine residents of town please advise me on what the process is for getting the leafs picked-up in this over taxed town. Do I need to apply for a permit? Or maybee the head of public works department needs help from the fire department. They are outstanding in their profession. Their equipment is always ready. Thank God they do not wait until a fire to do maintenance on their machines.

why dont you move to joliet where they are stopping leaf pick ups due to their budjet. Have some patience, they will get to you and everyone.

I have a suggestion, ask someone to rake you up into a pile of leaves. Then have them dumps some gas on it, and light the match. That will sill two birds with one stone you waste of space.

WTH is going on in here? To the OP, just push your leaves over the the curb and they will send a truck by to suck them up. The public works in this town rocks! I did read something on the site about a temporary suspension of that service so if it seems slow in the coming that is probably why.

At the last City Council meeting Tom Ellis reported that the leaf pick-up had been on hold for a couple of weeks. The reason for the hold was because the man power had been directed to road resurfacing projects. The road resurfacing projects had been on old because of all the rain we had for the past 1 1/2 months. Of course, the rain also played havoc with the leaf pick-up.

It is my understanding that all road resurfacing projects have been completed for 2009. Thus, the manpower had been redirected towards leaf and branch pick-up.

I hope this helps.

Well, I'll agree with the "excuses" part! LOL! Deskin stated in the prior post about the redirection of manpower to resurface roads in town before leaf pickup, and how all the recent rain has delayed both projects. I can understand how rain can stall a resurfacing job, but how does it affect a vacuum sucking up leaves at a curbside? And my next question is even more thought-provoking; "What are the Public Works employees doing when it rains?", since it seems nothing can be done outdoors, if I am to believe rain "delays" every outdoor project.

Thanks for the insight Trout. My query was real because I really couldn't figure out why they wouldn't pick them up if they are wet. Your explanation helped, but I do know that the bottom of the pile has a lot of moisture trapped beneath. Oh well, thanks for your help. I do wonder what the Public Works guys do when it rains; any insight?

I agree with your statement and I know regular readers will be able to clearly identify what I post in support of the military and what Trout and his "supporters/friends who use other's screen names" post acting like the juvenile, immature trolls they are.
