Wait a second. The city and park district are going to subsidize a private project where the profits go to the private company not the underwriters?

For all those Crest Hill children that come from broken families, When the Mayor made reference to "step children", He meant that in a good way.

Another pie in the sky idea by someone looking for a handout.

The park district should definitely not participate in this. Don't they already have plans to build a new facility along Weber Road? Why would we contribute to two?

Let me clarify my first quote. A private company is entitled to its profits. As I read the story, though, Crest Hill and the park district won't get any payments for loaning the money (or whatever the arrangement is).

The bigger question is how this use would generate any more money for the city than a retail store on the same piece of land. The library is already taking a huge piece of Weber Road away from development with the new library. Now this?

I don't understand what the city council is doing.

So he meant "bastard children" then?

You may be thinking along Renwick Road. The park district has 700 acres there.

Mr.Oliver was appointed by Mayor Soliman to the committee that recommended the hiring of part time Economic development man, Brian Gay.

As the saying goes,"Build it and they will come".

Perhaps they intend to sell tickets to the 2000 seat events and Memberships to the exercise facilities.

Sounds like a sweet deal for the private investers,
wonder who will own a piece of the rock!

I love these quotes for our City fathers--

"This here I believe is something that's going to put us on the map," said Councilman Scott Dyke.

"They're on the right track," Councilman Charles Convery said of the Olivers' plan and its potential to remake Crest Hill's image.

"This will change everything," Convery said. "They'll know it's not Crestwood. They'll know it's Crest Hill, and they'll know where it is."

Well If I can get the public funds from the City, I would like to build a third airport- or a casino- a mega-mall-no- no instead a high speed rail--

Come on guys your as simple as you appear on T.V.

You know its a dumb idea when Scott Dyke speaks.

Good point Scooter... But I don't think adding more retail spots is the right answer as well when we can even fill the ones we already have. The economy is in bad shape.. It will be another year or two before we see a turn for the better I am afraid. The city needs to clean itself up and make it desireable to future business's and families.... Not a easy thing to do when the city council cant work together...

The city's top priority should be reducing the budget deficit. Unfortunately, the city council appears to have the same fiscal world-view as Congress.

It is true the City Council meetings would run a lot smoother if there was no opposition to Mayor Solimans' ideas.

Perhaps the Mayor should add to the meetings, that in addition to the 3 min. speaches and only positive comments, that the Alderpeople are not allowed to speak unless they are in full agreement with the Mayor.

In the short run this would move the meetings along very smoothly,
in the long run this will prove to be very detrimental to the City.

If you think it important that the council members all get together, please look at the stem of the problem.
Nick Churnovics' hand picked Alderwoman Tina Overdon is putting a wedge between the Mayor and the rest of the Alderpeople.

Wow ! City Worker 3 Is that what each and every member of council is thinking? Mighty bold of you to speak for all of them.

I owe nothing to, nor do I want anything from Overdon, but she has an agenda and thats to serve her ward as she has been doing. If she is doing it for other reasons for herself, I fail to see where she is doing at the city's expense. Aside from a member of council collecting canned goods for earthquake relief in another country, what have other members of council done to help out the city of crest hill? Just thought you might have a list handy? As many citizens should be keeping a list to see who follows through with promises made before they were elected to office.

Just a FYI here City Worker 3 AGAIN, you have spun this post into a B*&?#hing session against Overdon... You really do hate her don't you?

No, my dear Nickado, I'm not speaking for anyone, Just sharing My Observation in reply to your statement that the council is not getting along.

Sorry you feel I'm twisting anything, I think I've been pretty straight forward about Overdon, she is a B*&?# and she is going to bring Soliman down with her if he is not to carful.
(you may have 2 h's in your spelling, B*&?#hing, hope we are speaking the same lingo)

I apologize to i scooter and the others for going off topic.
"Big Sports Facility" was the topic.

Maybe Dyke should tell the inner city graffiti artist to hold off on the HOBO building, Mr.Oliver may want it on his new complex.

Daily Horoscope for July 29

Libra

With the passing Moon in Pisces and your sixth house of health and service, you should be the model of compassionate care. Tending to those you are responsible for, including your pets and plants, is a pleasure today. If you have been eating junk food and putting off your exercise routine, this is the perfect day to get back on track. As Mars dives into your sign, the cosmic pressure increases your competitive spirit and inspires you to be more aggressive, even physically combative, than usual.
