I have been comming to Herrada Accounting for the last 8 years. Year in year out they work hard and get the max return for me. It is a relief to have an accountant working for your best interest during the stressfull tax season. They stand behind everything they do. A+ all the way.

News Flash, she is NOT an accountant. Feel free to check for yourself on the State of Illinois professional business license site. Nothing there under any of the Accountant categories either under her married name or her maiden name, Duran. There are also NO Accountants listed for her current firm - Herrada Accounting Tax Pros Inc. or her prior one Herrada Accounting Inc. She is a hustler who "directs" people into filing "unethical" 1040s with the IRS; e.g., married people being split to head of household and filing single. She also illegally has the clients returns deposited into her own bank account and then writes them a certified check. Just look at the IRS 1040 form or the IRS rules - the money must go to you or your spouses accounts. She does this to ensure her payment but then charges you for e-filing (free through the IRS) and then charges a crazy fee for the bank certifying the check not to mention being charged for 2 returns once she splits married couples. All done to maximize a return but leaves you on the hook for being audited. She also marks on the 1040 that YOU don't want your return discussed with a 3rd party (her) and the IRS. Why?? Buyer beware and enjoy the potential thought of an audit.

Forgot to mention that the certified check that she gives you from her account is only valid for 90 days. So, if you forget to cash it she has your full return in her account. Good luck getting it then. There is also a listing for tax preparers called PTIN which is a number given to each preparer. Well, if you look up PTIN you will find that she has 2 - one for her current business and one for her deactivated business. This might be a violation too since a "CPA" told me that she is only suppose to have one. Amazing how actual accountants are regulated and preparers don't - they just need software. By the way, what software does she use?? Use of off-the-shelf or free software by tax preparers is also another NO NO. Hmmmm.

Do you need any accounting experience to be hired at a bank? I was thinking about applying for the one in the city but, I am not sure if I qualify for it. I haven't even taken an accounting course in school. I can count well and I have other people skills though. http://www.thalheimergroup.ca/en/

Obviously you don't know tax laws. She wouldn't advise a married couple to split bc there is a penalty for filing that way based upon the eligible standard deduction. She would not be able to legally have the money placed into her bank account unless the person filing requested for this to be done because they do not have a bank account. She is most likely an enrolled agent, which means she is aware of the rulings of IRS regulations and is registered as such. An enrolled agent does not have the same educational background;however, she has the authority to represent her clients in a court of law. An accountant does not have the authority to do so, CPA or not. Scamming the government is pretty difficult, majority of returns that are audited are those with fraudulent exemptions in lower income brackets. You obviously have no Idea what you are accusing this woman of and you should read about the field before getting angry and attacking her online. She could lose the right to practice if she was found unsound or unethical. If it came down to having a CPA do your taxes or an enrolled agent, pick the enrolled agent.

You say "most likely" - thus YOU don't know!! I do have an idea since she did ALL of what I explained to me and a family member. Has she done your taxes?? Probably not since YOU can't give specifics. I'm not accusing but rather stating facts. As for "scamming the government is pretty difficult". Keep drinking the Kool Aid. Again YOU have no idea what you are talking about. Try reading the papers, watch the news or ask anyone if they have cheated on their taxes (scam) and you might be able to get your head of where the sun doesn't shine.

You are a bona-fide idiot. I am a certified CPA and it sounds that you most likely are an ignoramus. Which is absolutely a fact that I know for sure. Local grow up!!

Okay Certified Public Ass (CPA)- even if she is an EA what about the FACT that she has the returns deposited into HER account then writes us a check from her's?? She did this for the Federal and State returns. Also the FACT that she had us do separate returns and said it would get us a higher rate of return. NOT feeling right about her approach I went to a "certified" person and had our returns refiled properly!! That person had a lot of questions and concerns about her approach. How about the fact that she charges fees for using her checks and if you don't cash them in 90 days you are screwed. Finally, her office and business name has changed many times in recent years - why?? Guess you are related to her since all you can do is call names and ignore FACTS.

I have never even heard of this firm. I just read this post on here thought you sounded like an idiot and wanted to make you angry.. And it worked!!:) certified ass? Good one... Why would you agree to that if it made you uncomfortable? Maybe because you are a dumb ass that cannot go online and do your 1040ez with your phony deductions yourself. Maybe you should get a grip and think about going and finishing that high school diploma you never got.

You have no idea what you speak of - remember, just because you are the smartest moron in the room it doesn't make you a genius!! IF you are really a CPA, I hope everyone on here heads your advise and uses an Enrolled Agent. You have made that choice easy. If other CPAs are like you I feel sorry for the profession.

To be honest. You have proven to be the smartest moron in this room. Take a breather and understand that people like you that go online because they are angry about a service should take it up with the owner. It is schmuck people like you that assist in small business owners wanting to blow their brains out because you harm their reputation with BULLSHIT COMPLAINING!! GET A FUCKING LIFE, GROW A PAIR AND CONFRONT THE OWNER!!!

This was my first year going to Herrada Accounting. I saw the building driving by and wanted to give it a chance. Mona was so nice! She has her two daughters working for her and they're very polite and helpful. Offered my children toys, didn't mind that they were all over the place, and they even tried to play with them to help keep them calm. Mona seems very professional yet fun and makes you feel like family! We laughed and laughed, I felt like I'd known her forever. They all make you feel like you're at home. As far as my taxes, I had no problems. Nothing was done out of the ordinary. The fees were explained in complete detail and SHE DOES NOT USE HER OWN BANK ACCOUNT. They do direct deposit, they print checks from a bank that Mona uses (I know because I asked) or you can mail your forms in and have your check mailed to your home. They explained all of my options in detail, I was very happy with the service, and extremely happy with my comfort level while being there. I highly recommend Herrada Accounting to anyone in search of a good income tax preparer! They're just what I've been looking for.

Right? Too often the internet brings out sissies like this with keyboard balls that would shake and shiver if ever confronted in real life. Nothing but chickenshits. This is the ONLY reason that they do not confront the owner and instead come here to complain and tarnish reputations. Chickenshit pansy-asses.

ksternick73, that actually sounded like such a good experience! You said that you were immensely happy with your comfort level being there as well. I think it's important for tax preparation specialist and accounting centers to have that personable feel right when you walk in. This is definitely a good example of what to look for with an accountant getting your taxes done right!

No point in going. They took out the same amount they would anywhere else. Very upset with the service.
