OMG! LOCKPORT WATER IS DISGUSTING RIGHT NOW.
I was just there looking at my prospective house. Stopped in the Wal Mart on Farrell road. Took a drink from the fountain, and yuck. That store can't be that old, and the fountains look like they've been there for 20 years. Water is eating away at the metal.
I've lived in my Naperville home for 11 years, with Chicago water, and the 11 year old faucets still look new. No filtration whatsoever. I drink right out of the faucet.
I've traveled through about 35 states, and 7 countries, and that water may be the worst I've ever tasted! With the possible exception of Southwest Michigan.
This will probably knock $20,000 or more off of my offer price. Where can I find the results of that city council meeting??

I encourage anyone who has concerns about the Lake Michigan water option to join me at the next City Council meeting and voice their concerns. We all get five minutes during the open forum portion of the meeting to voice our concerns. I'm going to again voice my opinion against the Lake Michigan option.
Check out today's (November 11)Herald-News. It is reported that Frankfort's City Council voted against Lake Michigan water.

I concur! DO NOT move to Lockport! We don't need another yo-yo who doesn't mind tripling everyone's water bill so they don't have to wipe down their faucets once a week! None of my faucets look like crud. You're probably the same kind of person who'll vote "Yes" on 205, no matter what it entails. Stay in Naperville, Bob, we don't what a fool like you in OUR town!

I moved here from Chicago three years ago and do not miss Chicago in any way or form and that includes the water. I installed a top of the line Culligan water softener along with a Culligan reverse osmosis drinking water system that has a seperate faucet for drinking water and a line run to the refrigerator for ice cubes and water. The water tastes better than Chicago water and as for my plumbing fixtures they look as good today as the day we closed on the house because we take care of our investments.

If anyone believes city water, is still safer to drink than well water, treated, cleaned, and sent through reverse osmosis, then they are not being honest with themselves.
How long did it take you to install that system?
I built new construction so I had it installed by the builder. A friend of mine put one in last year and did it in an afternoon no problems. Between a good water softener and a reverse osmosis system there is no need to make a deal with the devil for Chicago water. Plus wait until cash strapped Chicago leases out their water supply to the highest bidder, they will drain you dry no pun intended.

Good move, I did mine on my own, and it took a day and half, due to no experience.
Definately no pun inteneded. I own a house in La Grange Park to better manage my business in downtown Chicago, and every time I turn on the dang faucet, I feel like I see green going straight down the drain. It is going to be the biggest scr_w job ever once that lease goes through. Also on my property in Cook, I am tired of paying the ridiculous benefits of the Reclamation District employees. Those are outrageous salaries, engineers paid up to 150k, machinists at 48.00/ hour, plus their health-care, and pensions are out of this world better than the average American. Its a bunch a BS if you ask me.

No truer words have been written here! Thanks for enlightening others on the most viable option to Chicago water. Safe, smart, and much less expensive in the long run. Now to let the "powers" that be know Chicago water isn't the best or only option.

And let's not forget the Illinois EPA has mandated further work to treat our wells, and imo the best option there is microfiltration at the source. NO CHICAGO WATER WANTED OR NEEDED IN LOCKPORT!!

The residents could install reverse osmosis systems in all of our homes for less than the water department will charge us in a year to have Chicago water.

The city should be investigating the option to get us all deep discounts on bulk purchasing for reverse osmosis systems instead of Chicago water. Charge me an extra $5-$10 and create a fund for those that don't have the money to pay for one in their own home.

This is a no brainer - NO CHICAGO WATER!

Big surprise here, Trout and his goons:

1. Hardliner (his buttbuddy)
2. Desking
3. Just Say No
4. Chan Ho
5. Lockport Option-1

all in opposition to another possibility to move Lockport in a forward direction. Of course, they prefer the radon-infested water, and could care less.

Another Big surprise, it is funny how well-off Hardliner is doing. He had the money to buy himself a nice big house in our city but is too greedy to support a new High School.

Just Say No should change his name to "Just Agree with Trout," because he isn't capable of thinking for himself.

Chan Ho, seriously, this guy is a nutjob.

Trout, what a dolt.

Lockport Option-1, is a total farce poster.

Desking, no one takes you seriously.

I think the people of Lockport deserve a respectable water supply, and of course these goons are against it. No surprise. Whenever the community tries to progress, these same jokers are standing in the way.

Vote yes for City Water in our great community.

The idiot is back. I guess the welfare lines were a bit longer this week, huh? There is a simple solution to your problem. You want Lake Michigan water? Then drive downtown, jump in, swim to the bottom, hold your breath, and count to 1,000. Otherwise, call United Van Lines, give up your Section 8 housing, and move your a_ss to Chicago.

You can't afford a reverse osmosis system, yet somehow you can afford your water bills tripling. You make no sense, stupid.

And I thought I was the only one who caught that! Here's a high-five for the preservation of the English language! I cringe every time someone says "I finna go to da stoe," or "I ain't gots no munney," or "He axed me a queschun." But to stay on topic, NO to Chicago water!

He's still at it! Call your alderman and the mayor to voice your opposition to this plan or mark my words, we will all be "drowning" in tripled water bills! Here's a new link to today's article in the Southtown. http://www.southtownstar.com/news/1913407,loc...

Well I suppose Lockport residents will love drinking a potentially fatal amount of E.Coli in the water. Oh wait, the residents of Lockport who think no already have reverse osmosis, filter systems, and not to mention enough money to build a grand old house. But they can't spend money so that our children at schools drink water contaminated with E. Coli. Or is expensive bottled water working out for your drinking habits? Or have you gone the carbonation route and choosing the "healthy" choice to drink soda. When my tap water tastes funky, and it's not just my pipes because I have brand new pipes. And my dishes come out without a good shine. Something is obviously wrong with my water. YES FOR A NEW WATER SUPPLY!

But you obviously have enough money to waste on marijuana based on the Topix poll you started and the comments you made in it. Life is about choices young man if you are really concerned about your water maybe you should install a reverse osmosis system one month instead of spending your money on the Maryjane. Or would you rather have the residents of Lockport pay more money just so you can contimue to get stoned? What a guy!
