I've just read that Homer is buying Woodbine Golf course and plans to make it into a Village Hall, have ball fields, a park and open a Senior Center. I hope they plan on creating a Park District as well. Currently, Homer residents have to go to Lockport or Orland Park for programs. With the amount of taxes we pay it would be nice to have some perks. We don't even have our own police department.

Seems to be a good idea since it would create a town center atmosphere. Now we just need to get an additional HS in district 205. Most districts have more than one HS and with the number of students we could justify one. People have to understand having a HS in Homer would not be for only Homer students, but be a part of the entire district. Makes sense to me.

Lockport Township will get a second high school when the number of students enrolled truly justify building it.
Lockport residents are not going to build a high school on Cedar Road before that time just so Homer can feel like they are a real town.

You do realize that part of Lockport lies within Homer Township and that part more than likely would be assigned to attend the new high school? But hey, lets just see how many more students we can jam into a school built in 1910 and one in 1964.

I wonder how many of the homeowners/taxpayers in New Lenox would rather be in our position right now than getting gouged for the half empty Lincoln Way West facility LOL!

If the homeowners/taxpayers of district 205 were foolish enough to pass that referendum it would be even worse here. Your type of rhetoric was voted down no less than six times. What's next, are you going to trot out the tired old whore that the school is not up to the fire code either LOL!

Not only was that proposal a vanity project in all of its' incarnations but the numbers never made sense. Thank God there were enough people in this district to see through that. You too can have a 47 million dollar mega campus in your district all for the low low price of 1 pizza per month LOL! Was that with all of the toppings!

Even though it was rebuilt, there are still a lot of students on the campus and not that much room to grow. Students were on a split schedule a few years ago with some starting classes as early as 6:00 am. How conducive is that to learning? Adding another school to the district is not a luxury, but a necessity. It wouldn't be only Homer residents attending, just like EJCDad said, parts of Lockport are within Homer Township. The problem is that people think it would only be for Homer. It would/should be part of the Lockport High School District. How many areas have only 1 HS in the district that cover so many cities/neigborhoods? People need to stop having an us vs. them mentality and look at the greater good.

New Lenox residents are actually getting tax rebates because of all the commercial coming in! It's rare that a town gives YOU money. Believe me, I know many ppl in New Lenox would not want to be in Lockport's position right now.

You got that right. Lockport is beginning to get swarmed with section 8. Most of them hood rat blacks from south chicsgo. The scum is spreading south. Look at bolingbrook. The school system is failing. Property values are unbelivably horrible. Crime is up drastically in the past 5 years. The number of blacks is also up drastically in the past 5 years. A stronghold is being set up protecting new lenox and homer glenn from this sickness spreading. Its not your local gov or law enforcemsnt stoping the scum its the kkk.

Those spilt schedules were punitive actions by Raymond and company to scare voters in their direction. Just one of many underhanded tactics they resorted to so that they could pad their wallets and those of their cronies in that vanity project cash grab.

Who could forget the last time when they tried to sneak it through on the Homer Glen Republican primary ballot knowing full well that neither Lockport or Crest Hill had elections that cycle hoping that we would be unaware and not show up. Well the joke was on them as I believe that dirty tactic rallied the taxpayers to a 60%-40% defeat of the referendum.

Face it, if you invested your money in Homer Glen expecting that a new high school would be built just because you wanted one than you made a mistake. A new school will be built when one is needed. We are still flushing out short sales and foreclosures so the time is not even close. If you can't deal with that for the next 5-10 years you should probably move to New Lenox where they have a shiny brand new half empty school just waiting for you LOL!

I have no problem with LTHS. I'm just saying that people should keep an open mind, which apparently some can't. People don't seem to realize that good schools bring people and increase home values. I agree that a new school should not be built unless the numbers show the need. But Hardliner, if the numbers showed the necessity, would you agree to it or would you find another excuse to avoid building it?

Old enough to know better LOL! And with all of my credit scores in the mid 800's, paid off homes,(that's right plural!), money in the bank, market and investments. I couldn't be happier!

If the population growth dictated a real need for a new school and the proposal made sense I absolutely would vote for it 100%.

The property value decline propaganda that the district ran out was another scare tactic. everybody took at least a 30% hit when the bubble burst no matter where they lived. It had nothing to do with whether you built a brand new mega campus to go along with all of the brand new McMansions that were built in the early 2000's. You can look this up but around the 4th or 5th time they were putting the referendum up for vote New Trier HS district was trying to get a huge new addition in Winnetka. The taxpayers there rose up and defeated it for almost the exact same reasons we did in 205, because they saw that it wasn't needed and were freaked out by the impact it would have been on their already ridiculous taxes. Go ahead and Google that, you will find it is fact. So let me guess the wealthy north shore money that makes up Winnetka is white trash too LOL!

One more thing, this isn't an us (Lockport) versus them (Homer Glen) thing for me, I live in the Homer Township section of Lockport that more than likely would have gone to the Cedar Road campus. Like I said when it makes sense they can count on my vote because like all old people I never miss one LOL!

Hardliner - I'm glad to hear that if the facts supported it, you would vote for it. I don't need to pay any more taxes than necessary and am not for spending money frivolously, but if the numbers supported it and it would help kids get more out of their education, I'm all for it. All I'm asking for is for people to keep an open mind. I guess time will tell if a new HS is warranted or not.

I bet we have more in common than not. When the time and proposal are right I will vote for it. I am not spiteful and I am certainly not stupid, stubborn yes but not spiteful or stupid!
