I am currently stuck in this urban yet rural hellhole. A lot of the residents are crackhead zombie degenrates and it seems that the police are more interested in hanging at UDf or at times in ST. I remember going on the village's website last year and seeing a letter from the former Village Solicitor stating how incompetent the local government is. This place needs an enema.

hey everyone, i am not here to bad mouth anyone or to correct anyones spelling because i make mistakes also when i type, but i can bear witness that elmwood has went to hell in the last 10 years.
i lived in cincinnati all of my life i am 39 yrs old and i moved to ky 7 months ago and i have never been so happy to get out of there i grew up in elmwood and carthage and later moved to hartwell so i lived in that valley a long time and yes it use to be a good old fashion town, not anymore.
the police are just as bad as the criminals and yes the street commisioner does smoke crack and the mayor knows it and i know it because i divorced my husband because he started smoking it and he is real good friends with the street commisioner. these people are not lying when they say what they are saying, it is in your face eveyday my brother and 4 of my sisters are addited to crack. this is a nastey drug and it is killing our communities.

I lived in Elmwood until I was about 25. It was great there while growing up. The problem is that there are a bunch of slum lords renting to a bunch of section 8 trash. Not to mention the city of Cincinnati is running all their problems to places like Elmwood. Hamilton County Sherifs office needs to come in and do some raids. All these drug dealers know that the Elmwood Police Dept. do not have the funds or the resources to do the raids so they take advantage of it.
Instead of the residents of Elmwood bitching about the crimes maybe they need to be a little more pro-active. If you see illegal activity call the police. By the way do not hang out on Vine st. Good lord do you know how trashy that looks when you have a bunch of poeple sitting out on the steps of stores and the sidewalk. Take your butts to the parks there. While your there pick up some of the trash. The little things help.

I have lived in Elmwood my whole life. Is it different from when I grew up over 3 decades ago? Yeah and the reason? Heres they answer like it or not!

The business up on vine street used to be ok. They had they ice cream shop.(problem) Its now owned by a bunch of people from Iran and its the spot for all the drug dealers to meet up on the corner.

They had the old fashion music store.(problem) Vern only got about 7 customers a day and half of those are crackheads saying hey can I sweep your floor for a couple bucks.

They had gilberts furniture.(problem) Gilbert got old and sick and tired of messing with the business and now that hes out of business its just another place for drug dealers to meet up.

You guys know theres only about 2,000 or so people who live in elmwood give or take a few.(problem) Drive down vine street and half of the store fronts where there should be stores are churches. Im not against church I love jesus and im a believer. However Elmwood has Highland ave baptist church its big enough for the whole town. Why do we need 25 churches. At the rate its going we will have 1 church for every person in elmwood.

Other problems: To many bars, they should shut every bar on vine street down. Dellas is nothing but a bunch of white trash and so is the rest of that crap.

The police and the mayor:

I know the mayor and he has lived here his whole life. He does a great job and we are lucky to have him as mayor. The police, so what if they get a little rowdy with people sometimes, its there job and I think they do a darn good job at it. Here latley its been really good. They are keeping the riff raff out best they can.

They answer:

They only way elmwood will return to how it used to be is when I win the mega millions and I will buy every house where a thug or a crack head lives and kick every one of you worthless peices of *hit out of my town. Then I wil rent it out to people who should be living there.

My suggestion: Since that will never happen the local council should do more in putting preasure on these slum lords who are renting to all these crack heads and peicies of crap.

Id like to say something about the street commisioner. I have heard all you guys saying he is a crack head. My goodness all you people who are saying this stuff dont even live in the town anymore.

This is a story that will tell you about the town where its at and where its heading.

The street commisioner used was a normal guy. He worked 60 hours a week and took care of his family. He was a true role model. He got up went to work every day and took care of his family. Then after he was done working he went to his other job and worked. This guy worked from dusk to dawn every day. He worked harder than most of you have ever worked in your life. He hurt himself working one day and he was taking Vicatins for pain. He never took crack he never sold crack or did anything illegal except for take a few vicatins. SO WHAT ALL YOU IDIOTS HAVE TAKEN A FEW PAIN PILLS BEFORE TOO GET OVER IT. When he retired as street commisioner the whole damn town went to crap. The streets were dirty all the time and the mayor retired as well and we got a bunch of people in here running our council who did not know what they were doing. Luckly the mayor came back aboard and so did the street commisioner and they are cleaning the town up. Im 58 years old and Ive seen this town go from something like a mayberry to the ghetto and now its slowly but surely returning to form and its getting better. Most of the credit should go to The current council morgan, ellison and company and if your one of these sorry #ss loosers who got out of here and fled and let these crack heads take your town over then your a bunch of cowards. I for one am going to stay and do everything I can to help it get back to where it was.

lol, at all these comments. However I agree with the guy above I know the street commisioner to and he is the type of guy who will give you the shirt off his back. So many people want to talke a bunch of stuff. I saw that guy one time an old lady 100 to buy some groceries. Hes a nice guy and since he and ellision came back they have both played there part in cleaning up the town and it is getting better. Most of the credit in my opinion should go to the cheif peskins who is doing a great job keeping these punks off the streets.

Everyone has a right to there opinion. What I want to say is that no matter where you go in life there will always be a critic. So many wonderful people used to live in this town and moved away and if they came back today they would notice the change right off the bat.

However let me assure you that in the last 3 years this town has made alot of way in getting back the way it used to.

I say to all of you people, why did you move away instead of fighting for what is yours that being your town. That is the true problem in Elmwood there are to many people who want to run away instead of help fix the problem. Its always alot more easy to move away and critisize than to stay and help fix the problem.

As for the street commisioner I go a better one for you than the last guy. Back in 1985 a forein guy named ken moved into elmwood and opend up a store down on highland some of you might remember it was called kens delie. The street commisioner free of charge helped this guy build shelfs and painting and replace window for ken out of his own pocket to help him out. The street commisioner ran elmwood for a long time and I have noticed since he came back the town is looking good again. Way to go commisioner. Even though you dont have the title commisioner anymore everyone know the type of person you realy are and dont listen to any of these morons who have nothing better to do than complain, it just shows you were they are in there life.

Everybody in that small village knows each and every drug dealer in that town. Why doesn't anybody do anything to get them off the streets? Like I said in my previous post I use to love living down there. I drove down Vine st. a couple weeks ago and it looks like Price Hill. this was on a Monday around noon. Doesn't anybody work? People were sitting out on vine st. everywhere. Also when you have Mexicans moving in, your town turns to crap. The citizens there need to report illegals instead of the trash that keeps marrying them. They end up getting pregnent and then marry the illegal so he can stay here..Get rid of them....

wow-why has this turned so ugly?
the original issue, i believe, was the alleged ever-climbing rate of drug related crime in elmwood place as well as the lack of police involvement/enforcement. suddenly aria has taken the rap--she sounds like a concerned citizen. now you're scrutinizing her grammatical skills(or lack thereof)?
you all need to stand down.
and stand up!
like aria..........

I have lived in Elmwood for 20 years and we had a breakin a couple of years ago and the police refused to fingerprint because the crackhead took less than a $1000 worth of property. The crackhead went on to break in a bunch more houses in Elmwood and Carthage before he was finally caught.I finally caught the crackhead on film on my enclosed patio with a remote camera.
