Grove City... don't forget the Franklin County Children Service levy passed too. That will add another $95 a year to your $100,000 home.

Add the AEP 54%(electric) rate increase over the next 3 years, 10 cents more per CF of natural gas to heat your home this winter, the Columbus City income tax you are now paying if you work in the city, COTA bus increase for those who ride the bus, gasoline costs and rising food costs.

Enjoy the game! LOL

I wish we could make it so that when these type of levies/taxes come up only the people who have to pay (i.e. homeowners) get to vote on them. I wonder how many of the 400 plus votes were students who turned 18 (and could vote) since the last time the voters said no.

The Children's Services levy will NOT add anything to our tax bill. It was a replacement levy. I think it was for less money, too. I'll have to check that part out.

It's what I keep repeating in all my other posts: Welcome to communism, where we take from those that have to give to those that have not. People can judge me "nuts" and "clueless" all day, but at the end of the day, count your change - cause that's about all you got! Hope you all like it!!

I wonder how many people bought homes they cant afford already and then want the kids to suffer because they did not add taxes in their budget of whatthey could afford. that doesn't matter though. Everyone talks about how the schools in the USA are behind so many other countries well this is why. Schools have to beg for money from the people. Banks and big corporations do not they just ask Obama for your money and they get it.

One is inclined to ask: Why is it that those who voted "YES," in the previous failed SW levy ballots, didn't go ahead and send the school an equivalent amount of money anyway? I am sure that the SW school system would have gladly accepted their contributions.

They did not contribute what they voted for others to pay, because they are "SCHOOL TAX HYPOCRITES." They want schools to be funded as long as someone else pays the majority. Likewise, due to the absurdity of allowing those who do not own property to vote on property taxes, many who promote increased taxes pay nothing. This would include renters, owners of tax abated commercial property, young voters still living with parents, extended family sharing a residence, etc. Most disturbing is school personnel that promote more tax while living outside the tax district. If voters that will not have to pay this property tax were deducted from the vote count, the issue would have failed by a wide margin.

While the Levy promoters were vilifying overburdened homeowners, I was already paying over $6,000 a year in residential property taxes. My youngest child is over thirty. What a terrible message to send to young people. "It is more important for you to play sports, than it is to concern yourself with your grandparents being forced from their homes by confiscatory property taxes.”

Our state politicians must be forced to change the unconstitutional tax mode being used to fund schools. The school tax hypocrites are preventing the very tax reforms that would fairly and fully fund our schools. Frankly, it is time for the school tax hypocrites to put-up-or-shut-up. To still contribute nothing more, after you voted for others to pay more property taxes, is dishonest. It is as hypocritical as our unconstitutional tax code that unfairly distributes the tax burden. It is time to place a school tax surcharge on the parents of students that do not otherwise pay property taxes.

I'm personally tired of being nickled and dimed to death. While it would be ideal to have the kids play sports if they want, it is crucial to be able to provide the necessities for our kids such as food, shelter, medical care. Priorities. I have a college education and a good job before anayone decides to comment on that and I don't drink, smoke, gamble or have credit card debt. I live within my means.

Yea, right just "get 'em through school" playing sports. Then try ordering a burger from one of your jock graduates at the local McDonalds!! They got their damn exercise walking around with signs and passing out flyers for this thing - they're in better shape than they've ever been - except their brains!

BTW...You can't give away a house in that school system anymore because the reputation is "give us more money". So don't even talk to any of us about trying to sell. No one wants to live there anymore!! WAY TO GO COMMUNITY!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is everybody's patriotic duty to pay as much tax as possible so that our Federal, State, and local governments can continue to employ the quality of folks our public service sector deserves. They know what's best for us and I can't understand why we resist. This should be an honor for us to do.

I am a home owner that voted for the levy, not because I necessarily thought the school board deserved it, but because I know how much extracurriculars helped me as a student in high school and it really isn't faire that the shool board held the children hostage in all of this. It involves more than just sports, it also includes clubs and reinstates bussing. That said, IF the school board comes back and asks me for more money next year, I will tell them no, and send them a book on fiscal responsibility. The school board and teachers need to realize that these students are their lifes blood. If the students aren't there, they have no job and NO income, so they need to start making concessions to help the students... you know, the people that are really supposed to be benefited by the school district.

why do your kids deserve sports? half of the districts schools are terrible! 0-10! why should we pay for kids who can't even win?
