"Then there are those of us who understand we aren't going to deport 12 million people".
Does huntington have 12 million illegal aliens? Good heavens.
Of course we don't have to deport 12 million. We have to round up and deport the portion which are hiding out in our town. We do it the same way the 12 million+ did it when they arrived, by the tens and hundreds and thousands. Not by saying well we can't deport all 12 million by friday next so let's just give up and let anyone who wants to jump the boarder and crowd our schools and emergency rooms at taxpayer expense.
treat people respectfully, but enforce our laws.
And that means deporting those with no right to be here.

Glenda jackson has no credibility on any issue related to taxes, schooling,or minority issues!!! PAY THE FULL 82,000. YOU OWE SOUTH HUNTINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT! NOT 12,000.DOLLORS BY THE WAY WHY DID A TOWN ATTORNEY REPRESENT YOU(IT CERTAINLY CANTBE CAUSE YOU WERE APPOINTED TO THE BOARD)? Hey deport all illegal aliens and any children that have been berthed here! Then see how much houseing would be available!Italians, spanyards,i ndians, germans, english, greek, turkish, japanese ,polish, africans(of many nations),irish, isreali, arabs,a nd european as well as asian people learn the language and get it that they MUST DO THAT JUST LIKE EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD WHEN ONE EMMIGRATES!!! Notice that is not alot of white countries AND THEY GET IT!! Notice they are not all black countries either! To those that have any intelligence know huntington is not a city. By the way notice all the other ethnicities try to assimilate into society(and don't want us to write documents in the former language).Don't even bring up the mismanagement of the hireing site(that was amazeing that newsday was willing to print those facts).

Diversity is fine provided people unite under the law. Illegal immigration is not diversity; it is lawbreaking. Illegality is, was, and always will be wrong and must be corrected.

The district is grappling with increasing populations, class sizes and overcrowding.

Better start raising taxes in that town and stop relying on the Americqan taxpayers to foot the bill for all the illegals and their spanish speaking offspring flooding into that town.

So in short this article is about Huntington is turning into another Brentwood.

What the Huntington school district should do is have each childs parents present a property tax bill or W2 to prove that they are actually contributing and not being part of the problem.

I used to work in the Huntington School District and yes there are many who get free lunch and breakfast. I know first hand that when you needed to stand to pledge the flag many would not stand. But yet they were eating and drinking our food for free. Also, many were ungrateful and all they wanted were the freebys. Never took advantage of the opportunity that was given to them to try to learn did nothing but disrupt the ones who wanted to learn, and don't turn your back on them they would knife you right in it and twist the knife.

Lets make one thing clear... Most of these Hispanics are here illegally and further more the principal of the school needs to address these people in ENGLISH,,,, it is their responsibility to learn the language of the land and thelanguage is NOT SPANISH..... We don't cater to any other group the way we do to these people... I thinkd people would be more accepting of the Spanish population if they came here legally, truly made an effort to assimilate into this country and learn to speak English the way immigrants have done in the past... What country can you and I go into and demand things our way??? Not one so the will the advocacy groups get with it and encourage these people to not break out laws and learn our language.

Low income, high density housing means much higher school taxes for the rest of the people who live there. What is really needed is to send the illegals where they are wanted - the midwest where they are all for making the illegals citizens.

How about a new day laborer hiring site in Newsday's parking lot? Newsday supports illegal activity and tax evasion, so why not have it in their parking lot?

Honest taxpaying Long islanders are sick and tired on newsday tellling us that we need to su[pport tax evasion and the illegal invasion. Time for Newsday to put up or shut up!

1. I have worked along side illegal aliens - they get paid in cash - THEY DON"T PAY TAXES
2. I have been to their houses - both married couples and the rooming house style residences. Both are in squalor. You'll see the big screen tv and stereo equipment and you'll see an overflowing septic system. You'll see bedrooms packed with bunk beds up against the windows and people sleeping in unfinished basements. 20 persons to a house is not unusual. THEY DESTROY NEIGHBORHOODS
3. I have been to their latin america - it is largely a slum by our American standards and that is what Long Island's former middle class neighborhoods are becoming. You cannot maintain our former lifestyle in the face of overcrowding, overuse, no tax income, and the general 3rd world attitude of these aliens.
4. You don't have to deport them, You can make them run for the border when you begin enforcing the laws. They are mostly opportunistic in their approach to this country. Take away the opportunity and they'll go elsewhere. They don't do a damn thing for this country. They are parasitic and the host is getting ready to reject them.

I grew up in Melville, and now live in South Huntington...yes SOUTH Huntington...please do not affiliate me w/ the station! Twenty two years ago when looking for my home, I made sure it was SOUTH of Jericho Tpke.(as if that were to be a dividing wall), to keep me as far from these people as possible! My choice was a wise one, as anyone driving down NY Avenue to reach the village can attest. At any hour during the day, the sidewalks are lined with Hispanics, just standing around......certainly not contributing to the good of the community. Many people are frightened to even drive through this part of town, which now resembles Little Mexico. I agree w/ Sharon and all she states. I will not deal w/ Bank of America either, and am sickened at Home Depot for listing the contents of each aisle, in English, then Spanish. I'm sure in a few years, this too will be reversed!
Bottom line.....you want to live here, do so legally. Follow the rules and above all, learn to speak English! This is AMERICA, not some little off shoot of Mexico, El Salvador, etc. AMERICA, land of the free and home of the brave.....well, these people certainly have the free part figured out!

The answer is simple.
Enforce immigratin laws.
Throw the illegal employers that hire them in jail.If they can not work and they can not receive handouts they will go back home.

I have no problem with people immigrating to our country. We all had family members that immigrated here. My problem is that we cater to the Spanish population too much. We make it too easy for them not to learn English. What they speak in their own home is their own business. When trying to live amongst our society, they should in my opinion at least make an effort to speak our language. I am offended when I call a local company and am prompted to hit a certain key for English. Translating School Board meetings in Spanish is again making it too easy for people to be ignorant. Illegal immigrants is another topic all together. Want to live here, no problem. Make it legal and pay the same taxes I have to pay.

It's funny. I thought America was the land of the free. A place where if one worked hard enough they could be someone. I guess that's only good for a "special groups" right the people who where born and raised here.
Leave them alone. Reasons why hispanic are coming to america and it's a good one. They want to be educated, have a family like everyone else and the are having to go through alot of red tape just to do what most take for granted. Stop being mad a people who are just doing what we all should be doing. Handling buisness the best way they can.
Huntington, a great place for who??? If you don't like than move.
