Levinson is a hypocrite. I know for a fact that there were guys who wanted to be Assistant District Attorneys back when Harvey the Creep was Chief Deputy District Attorney who he did not hire because they were retired NYPD Officers who happened to be lawyers. They could not benefit from their pension as a police officer and work in a second career as an ADA. I do not see anything inherently wrong with collecting a pension you earned and working a second career, but get real Harvey. Your sanctimous a** smells like sh*t on this one.

They all pretty much double-dip anyway... by getting a salary and not doing jack. People who "game the system" and collect two salaries are quadruple-dipping since they probably do little or nothing at both jobs.
It's the taxpayers that are being "gamed".

It's called double dipping. If they were black or Latino you would hear the screams from taxpayers...

We all do it . We go to work for other districts and collect 2 fat checks, or work for the state dept of education or even the county . We work the system to make MULTI-MEGA $$$$dollars, and millions in pensions..We deserve it because we are smarter and more educated than you common poor working folks. We are just like CEO's of a company, but we do not worry about our stock price. LI taxpayer has been very good to me and will continue for the rest of my life....

HOW ABOUT if they were WOMEN?

They'd be out in the streets with pitchforks and fire!

I wish I could make a salary like that. It would be like a million dollars to me. And plus not do anything for it? Heaven on earth.

As they say: nice work if you can get it.

What about those Civil Servants - including the upper crust who are multiple government payrolls?

The Town of Hempstead has a whole roster of them...that is of course when they aren't hard at work om their own businesses.

Will Cooper ask for Pearsalls resignation? He says that the double dipping rubs him the wrong way. Me too! Move aside for someone who wants to start a family here on Long Island. As for Fran Siems, she is a political hack.

Another "filler" story for Newsday. Quoting Pat Halpin? Even for Newsday, that is a bit low.

It should be called pension fraud. There is NO INTENT to retire, just to get 2 salaries! Their pension should be frozen until they "retire."

What a bunch of slimeballs!!! As a former Long Islander, all I can say is anyone who pays taxes on the Island should be outraged and do everything they can to stop this insanity.

YOU SAID IT PENSION FRAUD WITH NO INTENT TO RETIRE, YES, I AGREE FREEZE THERE PENSION UNTIL THEY RETIRE COMPLETLY. TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD HAS IT LIKE NORTH HEMPSTEAD, AND EVEN THE VILLAGES. ALSO I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE KNOWS THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS DO IT TOO. WHEN THE PRINCIPAL OR A FAVORITE TEACHER RETIRE, ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY BECOME A CONSULTANT FOR THIS MADE UP DEPARTMENT, ETC

What you should look into next , is the wide spread practice of administrative consultants by school districts. In many cases, senior district employees retire, and are re-hired as consultant. to conseal the effort, these individuals are often hired by other districts. in some cases these consultants are paid between $700 -$1,200 per/dium.

there is also cases of local municipal consultants who retired, only to be hired back as a consultant. this is common in the IT, Law and Planning agencies. There are several instances where former employees have left public service only to be hired back for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Fran - they are sitting on a volcano of information. They are waiting for the authorities to act (God Willing) before unleashing some major stories.
