I lived in Palmdale for several years. The best thing my family ever did for our kids was to move to Texas. We live in a suburb outside of Dallas.. Love the small town. Like Palmdale in the 60's...

We moved up to the AV five years ago. We lived in Granada Hills in a good area in the hills. We purchased a house outright here and thought we were making a good financial move. It is a beautiful house but I honestly don't care. If I had known what this place was like I would have never thought about moving for a second. I am just grateful that we did didn't raise our children up here. They received a good education and are college graduates. There is also a link to cancer up here that people should know about. They dump heaven knows what and there is a high instance of childhood cancer and other cancers as well. If I could go back in time we would still be living in a really nice area. HUGE mistake!

Haha. Its not hillbilly town. As much as I would rather it be. But it doesn't get -20 here. Its well over 100 in the summer. Stay in west Palmdale or go to the edges of the valley. But thing is the bad people can travel too. Especially if its only across town. I would say visit each walmart in the area to get a general idea of the demographics for that area. Santa clarita is nice. I would like to move there myself...
Santa Clarita is VERY expensive and full of soccer moms. We are moving to Acton to avoid this. After 30+ years here, it's no longer what anyone would want.

So how is Acton these days? Haven't been there for about 10 years now. Is Acton beginning to show sings of ghetto yet? The best thing we ever did was move out of california.

Clueless! Yes you are. Your golf course area will go down with everything else.

I do not live in Palmdale, however, I think it is pure IGNORANCE for people to believe that an area is the dictator of behavior......it is the people! People travel wherever they want to and if they want to cause trouble in Beverly Hills, Orange County, Bel Air, Palmdale, etc. realize it is the people, not the area you snobs!

I don't see anything wrong with Palmdale. I live on the east side, I am highly educated along with other couples that live out there and we have nothing but high regards for the city. Very peaceful!

Illegals are not all the problem but they are a BIG part of the problem. And the huge tax burden and crime that illegals bring into California, It's something that doesn't have to happen if the border was controlled and mass deportation began. And not just Ca. but all states.

People don't move to California people move out of California.

Me and my dad live in the sunset ridge apartments in lancaster. He isn't here during the week so I'm alone a lot of the time. There are many characters out here. If you show people respect they will give it back. I have no problem with any other race(I'm white). Yes there is some
people out here that might scare folks that aren't used to it. Staying on the westside doesn't make you safe. I've seen a lot of stuff go down on the far west side. Just mind your own business and you'll be golden I promise. But honestly though. This valley seems like its cursed, once your here your here. My parents tryed moving to Santa Clarita when I was younger and we started missing the av. I don't know why but we did. And we ended up back here. Its the cheapest place to live within a hour and a half of downtown. The next best thing is scv. I love it there. So clean and well taken care of. Its pricey though. For a 2 bedroom apartment in the good parts of town will cost you $1900 a month. Its worth it to a lot of people to pay that. My mom just recently moved to Stevenson's Ranch in Valencia and is barely making rent but still feels shed rather live paycheck to paycheck then to live in the AV. Just come visit before you make any decisions. I don't have a problem with anything out here but I've gotten very used to it over the years. Treat people with respect no matter who they are and what they look like and they will do the same. If I'm 19 and have figured this out when I was 14 whats everyones problem?

I lived in Palmdale a few years ago and it is hell on Earth. Nothing to do, two hours drive from Los Angeles, boring inbred people (no culture), tumbleweeds (literally).

If you're moving to palmdale I know you're not familiar with the area. If you're white don't do it. If you're black or Mexican you'll be OK.

I know this post was long ago but I'm 18 and my family devoted to move to Palmdale, my uncle used to live near that dry town water park and he loved the area. We might move near that area too, any advice?

When you're uncle live in Palmdale is was properly a nice place. It started going down hill in about 1980. And to make it worse the government puts in HUD housing and of course you know what that brings in. And to make matters even worse here comes the state prison. So many of them move to the Palmdale area so they can be near Bubba And Jamal on visiting day. Its really a sad thing to see what these people have done to a once nice town. But its always the same thing no matter where they are at.
