Fire destroys historic Livonia barn

A fire destroyed a piece of Livonia history Thursday night. The Livingston County Sheriff's Department says a propane heater caused a barn, dating back to the 1830s, to go up in flames. Full Story

That's a real shame.... it was a very unique barn originally owned by the Coe family - some of the original settlers of S. Livonia

I drove by this last night on my way home from work. The fire depts were not there yet but they were on their way. The barn was fully engulfed. The heat was so intense I could feel it in my car with the windows rolled up. I wonder why no one noticed it before it got fully engulfed.

When a barn starts on fire it takes only minutes for it to become fully engulfed. In the fire service they refer to buildings like these as "lumber yards". So even though the owner was there when it happened it was too late. If it was built in the 1830's the wood was dry on top of it.
