My 1930 Packard has a Pickard Trunk Co. trunk with fitted luggage. There are four different pieces. Don't know any more.

My father who passed away in 1990 and had lived in Livonia all his life after being Born in Sicily and coming here around age four was familiar with the trunk factory that now houses a plumbing and heating supply business.

I recall it being a Hicock belt factory in the 1940's and later was a Champion Knitwear factory in the 1950's and sixtys.

It is located on the southern edge of the village on Route 15 (Commercial St)

I recently purchased an old automobile trunk for my 1928 Model A Ford roadster and found a metal tag attached to the side with "Picard Trunk Co" I too was wondering about this company.

Today I purchased an old trunk which has a metal pickard trunk Co. tag on the front. I was told it was for a Model A 1929 or 1930 Ford. Would like to know what it is worth.

Hello Elizabeth,
That would be my grandfather's company. He supplied trunks for Ford, Packard and Pierce Arrow among others. I have been looking for an original or at least news about someone owning one for a long time. I have several B&W photos of his work but have nevere seen an original. He grew up in West Sparta, Livingston County, NY and later lived in Dansville, NY. His father C.E. Pickard was the first mayor of Dansville. Would it be possible for you to send me an image of your trunk? Thanks

I bought an interesting trunk ten or fifteen years ago and have stored it ever since. I'm finally getting around to sorting through things and 'lightening' the storage load (this impulse finally becomes imperative at a certain age; who wants to leave it to others to clear everything out?). Today, I had burrowed deep enough in my 'collection' to uncover the trunk and spotted the "Pickard Trunk Co" tag. I was researching it on the web when I ran across this site. I'll try to pull it outside and snap a few photos in the next week or two. It's a beautiful item, well made with lots of nice details. I'm not quite sure how to take care of it.

Bill and Elizabeth,

I too have an old Pickard trunk that I was told was an auto trunk. Mine has a metal name plate, metal hinge, metal eyelets on ends, two locking hasps, riveted leather corners and either a leather or vinyl covering around the wood construction. I too would like to know the value of this piece of history

If you know some more info about these trunks, please e-mail me at [email protected]

Thanks,

Chris
