It attempts to go to a virus scan site. protectonantivirusscan.com I believe. DO NOT go to the site or install anything that it prompts you to install. Its a mean virus that steals your information, logs your keystrokes and is a bitch to remove. BEWARE!

How would you remove this virus? Just in case someone gets it on their computer? Does anyone know? This information might be very helpful.

I use spyhunter by enigma software. It can be downloaded from their website.

The popups were coming from a third-party ad on the site. We pulled it as soon as we were able to pinpoint the source early this morning. We're reporting the 3rd party provider to authorities as well as to all ad networks that we work with.

You should no longer be seeing any popups or redirects from Topix. If you're still getting popups and if your browser is still getting hijacked, your computer might be infected with malware. We recommend removing it with a trusted anti-spyware or antivirus tool unless you're comfortable making changes to the inner workings of your computer's operating system and its configuration files.

its true, the virus is legit. i got one on my pc. i didnt even go and download from the site that be aware mentioned but when the page loaded up one day last week its frazzed my browser ever since. i cant be on the net for 2 minutes and i got all kinds of crap popping up, it bypassed my malware stuff, i gotta go get my machine fixed
