Just curious as to why the Overton County School Board meeting for May 2012 got moved from the regularly scheduled time (Monday at 6 pm) to a Tuesday evening at 5 pm on the night of Senior Awards night ? Does anyone know ?

Could it be the Board does not want county taxpayer participation and awareness of the Board decision making until the decisions are made ? Cannot wait to see the agenda items in next week's paper.
Again Just Curious - Is there not anyone else in the county curious ?

I am always curious to how these people TRY to avoid the public's questions and concerns. Why is that the supt. of schools can't be at the awards ceremony, doing his job, instead of being with a bunch of elective officials, figuring out a way to screw the teachers and taxpayers every way but the right way? Because the board doesn't give a damn about the taxpayers of Overton Co., if the people of this county don't vote these a..holes out of office. God help you!!

3 Will win,

Ledbetter might be the only one who loses.

Hayes will beat Sadler because in elections with a write in candidate the write in candidate only wins .01% of the time.

Norrod and Poston will romp.
Say goodbye to Howard Miller, Larry Looper, and David Sadler.

Ignoring the band and hiring an athletics scholarship position was your last straw.

Robbins was chairman of the board during most of the latest hirings and was certainly chair during the hiring of the two unlicensed teachers so he should be the first to go. Poston is running unopposed so I am sure she will romp.

Livingston winning regionals is like being the least retarded person in special ED. Yeah, we won regionals at this sport or that sport, are you one of those sad people who actually brag about being "Regional" champion?

So, when your favorite pro team wins their division but then gets their ass kicked in the first round of the playoffs do you brag, woo!!! We are division champions?

If you are gonna put all your eggs in the athletics basket, you should at least be competing for state titles. Which we do not anymore.

Welp they work too hard to hang regional banners, I guess i'd rather not work at all if that's all I could get. It gets em nowhere, the most successful kids from these schools are not athletes, not a single athlete has become anything great post High School.

Name me one athlete who became a Dr?
A Lawyer?

Not going to post any names to let people belittle them but one Dr. has a vets office on Monterey hwy, one Dr. is a surgeon at Erlanger, and one Dr. is a surgeon in Livingston or Cookeville--not sure which.
I went to school with a FB player who is now a lawyer in Cookeville. Know another who was big into karate--if you call that a sport!
All I can think of but I'm sure there are more. Not all athletes are dumb! I know many former athletes who have done very well for themselves.

I stand corrected, with the exception of Krantz none of them are under 40 years old. I am somewhat young and I have seen no one in recent decades. You can't name hardly anyone in the past 2 decades that has done anything except maybe Krantz and Colin Smith.

Things have deteriorated.
It seems that with education becoming more available these marvelous student athletes still aren't amounting to much lately.

seems to me that most all agree (except the ones on the board) that we have a real problem with the present board. common sense is needed. for an example: renovation of the old central office building, books ordered but never used, accountabliliy, up-keep of buildings, bonus insennatives, personal use of school owned, certifications, the buddy-buddy system, and i could go on and on. i think it is time for the people to get involved. it is time for the board to use common sense and start thinking what is best for the intire county. it is time for accountability.
