There are a few well known big foot hunters in this area and several stories have been published , Linda Greene , now living in Cookeville , retired , was the expert on big foot and the collection of stories in Overton County. Standing Stone State Park is home (at times) to big foot.
Some of her stories published that I remember very well and actually documented an Overton County School teacher looking at one that a neighbor shot. It was laid out in the back of a truck back in the 1950's , dead as a door nail.
It had hair all over its body with long monkey like arms and a face of man like creature.
I believe in them but they may be extinct now.
To hunt them you look for piles of branches that pile high as markers for other Big Foot to find them. They scream at night like a child or a woman. They are afraid of humans and will take off. They have a strong bad order and have a keen sense of smell and eyesight , as whats been reported.

I was riding a motorcycle down fire roads in Oregon, near Mount Hood many years ago. I stopped to let my hair dry in the bend of a gravel road. I got this spooky feeling I wasn't alone and started looking around. It was silent no birds chirping. My eye's focused on a large pine tree. I could see two leg's then a torso, but couldn't make out a face. There was long brown hair hanging from it's body.
I throw the helmet on and rode, like my life depended on it for several miles. Almost overshooting a curve.
The next day it sank in that what I saw was real ( I've never seen anything that wasn't).
Year's later a show on T.V. about Bigfoot said that there had been more sighting within the Mt. Hood area than anywhere else in the U.S.....

If they exist, I doubt there are any in this area. My husband and his father and grandfather have hunted this area all their lives. They used to coon hunt almost every night of the week! They know this county like the back of their hands.

Of course they could exist in less populated areas of the world. New animal species are still being discovered quite often.

Actually, the lady's name is Mary Green. She's been researching bigfoot for many years.

Did anyone ever see that episode of Monster Hunters where this lady in Tn claims to know a whole tribe of Bigfoot (Bigfeet?) Anywho, she claims she could communicate with them and everything. It was kind of sad. This poor Bigfoot researcher was hanging on her every word. It looked to me like she just wanted attention. I've always considered myself a hillbilly, but she made me look/feel like citified folk. She was from waaaay farther backwoods.

The sightings in the park where started back in the 90's. Several high school kids got together and nailed reflectors on trees where people's headlights would just briefly hit them and look like eyes.

There is not any Bigfoot around here. The only thing you might see would be a bear, as they are in the park among other areas of the county.
