Building is owned by Pamie, the grant is to do improvements, just like the pawn shop. The money has nothing to do with the city or county, I have talked to the chamber director, just call him or go see him..its all for the better of the city. And guess what, not a penny comes from the city or county. It's about sales tax. So if you or anyone else on this has the guts go see him and get the truth or quit talking about something you no nothing about.
The City and County and Chamber do more for "You" than you or anyone else on topix's will ever know. Best way to find the facts is to ask. They are working for you, but all or most of you do is complain. Just go see any of them like I have and you will see, and then maybe we can have more support in a tough economy.
Me want my house fixed too...

its my understanding that the city bought all the property down S. Spring St and that they are gonna build an Ampitheater in the big grass area behind Lynda Simmons law office. Heard that all the area from Pamies salon on back to El Rays is gonna be public parking for events such as the blue grass festival that is usually on the square, so it would make sense to fix up and buildings in that area. And we all know Curtis isnt in charge of the decisions. It has to go through the alderman, hes just the figurehead that gets to voice their vote. I think all the buildings in that part of town need a facelift!!!
so th ecity has started to fix houses now besides mowing the land,, God what a deal ,When can i get my shop fixed and 15 acres mowed?

You need help, those are the only words I have for you. Did you mean Joe not "Job" Thompson? Renting those places is how people make money, no they may not be the nicest of places but they give the people that can not afford very much a place to live. Also, you might want to do some research before you jump on here and start running that big trap of yours. David Langford does not own the trailers Danny Langford does. And the last time I checked, a wrecker service is a place that would have "junk" or wrecked vehicles on the lot.

Isn't the trailer section 8 housing thatare full of rats and roaches ownd by Job Thompson once same as David Lagford and the Roach Traps he rents to poor people they all should be bulldoze down and burned to killed the rats and raoaches, all of them..
Tou want to clean up the town get rid of the rat and roach infected trailers owned by city cousel members.
And ten start on the junk yard on oak street nead Hwy 111..all should be cleaned up soon. be a good way to use the tractors and sell the bush hoggs and buygrader blades to pull of thet junk away..

on these projects to bring in more tourist to Livingston and Overton County.
I think its great to fix up Andy Mitchells Building and put in some decent heating and cooling at Pamies Unisex Salon Shop.
Dont be dissin the modular homes at the end of Spring St.
They need to bring in decent restaurants and shopping to Livingston. A lot of money goes to Putnam Co. Bring jobs to Overton Co!!!!

I just have to say something. Maybe waiving the no child left behind act, for Overton County, is not such a good idea. In attempting to read this post, I've sure my IQ has been dumb downed a good fifty points. I'm surprised I can still type! Whew!

I hope that some of the posters on here don't read their own posts too often! If they did and got "dumb downed" 50 points, they would be in the negative column!

I agree, thanks for posting this.Wherever a person lives is their home whether it be a mansion or a shack.Doing away with low income peoples homes is what has caused so many homeless people.Any home is better than no home.I am glad these people furnish homes to those who need shelter.I say good luck to them. The poor will be with you always. Not saying they are poor,Home is where the heart is.

Actually there will not be a change in the Mayors race this year because noone is running against him.I do agree land owners should take care of their own property but the city has several pieces of property of thier own to mow.

I have seen the Enterprise building and I have seen the pics in the paper. It's ugly. I don't like it at all. Actually I liked it better the way it was. Are they going to do anything else too it or is it going to remain a giant beige geometic shape?

If they want to spend money on making the town not look like a shitheap, how about all the closed gas stations and rusty signs all over main street? There are so many eyesores before you even REACH the square...

Did this city read its own paper, 100 drug bust, who would ever come here. This town needs a drug rehab or drug courts for all the drug users. They couldnt find workers in this town now, all drug addicts its seems by the papers and our police. Clean up the drugs first before you waste your money on a town thats already dead
