At the beginning of the school year, before the Board of education sent off emergency licensure requests for transitional licenses the following people did not hold teachers licenses yet were hired over applicants who did hold licenses. I don't know about 17 people like a previous person stated, but here is a handful that come to mind right off.
They were granted transitional licenses because the school board petitioned that there were no qualified applicants for the available positions.
Sara Greenwood - High School Business
Derek Bush - High School History
Patrick Randall - Middle School Science
Keith Parker - Middle School Technology
Lora Clouse - High School Health
Mallory Richardson - High School Health
It is corruption, it is shorting our kids qualified teachers just to give unqualified people a job.
corruption is right.

The petitions are not sent by the school board my friend. The transitional license request is made by the director. But it is the duty of the school board to make sure the director does his job appropriately which they are obviously not doing.

Those people should not have jobs, there wer alot of qualified people who applied and who didn't get even an interview because they aren't related to anyone.

It is sad,
Make all of the excuses you want, but the fact is this system is corrupt and they try and find ways around everything and hope no one turns them in.

Patrick Randall is a WONDERFUL teacher, my children love him. If he is doing good job, what is the big hairy deal????? Sounds to me like someone is jealous a better teacher, and didnt get the job.

And to me it sounds like someone wants things to stay the same, and 30 years behind the time like usual.

Hate to break it to you honey but people go to school to be teachers now, entire classes of kids graduate and come back to their hometowns to work where they grew up so when a group of people who have no qualifications to teach get handed jobs over qualified people, it creates an uproar.

Especially in Patricks case, because his father in law is on the school board and holds all the sway out in Hilham. He walked right into that job over many, many more qualified applicants with way more experience.

But of course, it's Hilham, it's all in who ya know.

It all goes back to our fine fine president we have.. And I bet you voted for him !lol here is what you all get for that bad economy...
Sorry, but the educational system today is NOT allowed to decide that "experience" makes a person more qualified than education does. "Experience" many times means having a history of dealing with various locals and knowing who you have to please in the community to get what you "want" from it. We aren't talking about working at a trade and having "hands on" experience, but the basic concept of working in the "Educational Field". How can that NOT respect the value of the formal education and the qualifications that are supposed to be required. If educators and those who employ them do not have respect enough for their OWN education, how are we supposed to trust them with PUBLIC MONEY to teach respect for education to the children they are entrusted with? There was a report a couple of years ago that said that while many people would rather have an older, experienced doctor to deal with a health issue, in actuality, a young NEW doctor is going to have up-to-date information and not be stuck in the "it always worked in the past" mentallity.

This is about people who are teaching with NO CREDENTIALS, is it not? If this Patrick Randall person is one of them, then by the definition of the LICENSED career credentials, he is NOT LEGALLY A TEACHER!! Do you really want your community's children to grow up being taught that they MUST respect and be guided by a person who is hired ILLEGALLY and doesn't respect authority enough to get the credentials he needs? How "devoted" to the job can a person be if they will not get their papers in order?

There is so much wrong now that I don't think it can ever be fixed, not until someone has some guts and calls the media and the State department.
There is the "Investigative Reports" guy, I believe at MSNBC news, if you read some of the past cases it looks like this issue is surely worthy of their focus.
Remember when the Nashville police got busted for racial-profiling a few years ago? That was done by a group, I believe from Florida, that will come into a corrupt area or situation and when I read about the "racial profiling" exposee I saw that THEY were the bunch who were called in. They are not a part of law-enforcement or the educational system-structure. They have a site online and it is facinating. When I first read about them, before the work they did in Nashville, they said if it was a big enough issue that affected a lot of people, that they would come in and do it for the exposure/advertising, and at least if they charged it was scaled down by that (the public impact of the issue). If they were simply called in it was only a few thousand to hire them. I will see if I can find the archived article and find the guys' business name from reading about the racial-profiling issue. If I can find it I will put it up on here. This is unbelievable !!

It sounds like more than one child heard it. It is easy enough to find out, isn't it? It sounds like the ADULTS in that school "system" need to be doubted, or are you all raising your children to follow like sheep and never speak up when they see or hear something BAD being done or said by those they MUST treat with respect every day "or else"?
Wait until the child grows up into an adult and THEN believe them? That's AFTER so many more have been exposed to the bad-actors.

Read in last week's paper where Howard Miller was voted in as chairman. People thinks things have been bad in the past, they haven't seen anything yet. Practically all of his family already works in the school system. Now he will try to get them all promoted into bigger paying jobs plus start a campaign for building a high school at Rickman. The vice-chair is Dodson. Anyone know where he is from? They have and still do want a school built in Rickman. It will be up to the other board members to stop it. Or maybe the county commission will stop it. With Miller and Eldridge working as a team, this county better look out.

The truth is there is absolutely no way any of the principals, directors, or board members can deny any of this. At best they will tell you they felt these people were the best people for the job and that is why they chose them.

Transitional licenses are suppose to be a last resort if you can not find people suitable to teach. Then you send off for transitional licenses.

I can name at last a handful of recent graduates who went the entire summer, applying for everything, and didn't get any consideration while non-qualified applicants were getting hired and getting their emergency licenses processed.

Lets examine that,
How are these people the best people for the job?
How was Patrick better than the 30 plus applicants with degrees in education and licenses in hand?

How was Clouse better?
Or Greenwood?
Or Bush?

How are they better than people who have went and trained for these positions, passed hundreds of tests in their disciplines, made hundreds of lesson plans, student taught, and have been through the ringer to reach a point where they can be a legal teacher?

I'll tell how they were better.
They were better in one way, and one way alone.
Relatives of Aldermen
Relatives of School board members
Close personal friends of principals.

This county is about one thing, WHO YOU KNOW!
Teach your kids to kiss ass when they are young, and suck up to the big families, it is their only hope.

When your School board member shows up on your front porch wanting to talk to you about voting for them, ask them?

Why are we hiring unqualified people for these positions?
Qualified people are applying, by the dozens.

They don't return calls, but sure enough they will drag their sorry asses around looking for votes soon enough, ASK THEM.
