Thank goodness for Logos!!!...for many years one of our faviorte family outings was going to Logos! We didn't have alot of money.
Yes,...All "bathed and spruced" up too! This was a different kind of place instead of the library. Where I could also introduce my sons to books; that they could take home for as long as the wanted....we still have several (affordable) collections put away for another generation to come. Logos assisted our family to help us teach how to take care of books and the value of books and money.("The Logos Model") They each had their own "accounts" to buy/sell as young as two yrs old. To this day at 28yrs and 25yr---artist and bio-medical careers--- and lovers of books and music. Kudos and Thanks to Logos!

Way I heard it, if the Logos owner didn't also own the entire building, the place would be _gone._ It's the rents from the other spaces that keep the place in the black.

So yeah, it's a labor of love I guess. He'd probably make more money if he rented out the space to somebody else.

I moved to Santa Cruz in 1978 and fell in love with Logos. I was in there a couple times a week for years and years. I am pleased they have weathered the changes over the many years. As for the comments of "Annoying" above, there has always got to be some nay-saying a**hole on here no matter what the topic. Too bad just any non-thinking neanderthal can post!

Love to go in there to peruse the collection of guitar sheet music books. I've found some excellent treasures there.

I still need to bring my books out of storage and try to sell them there. Maybe knuckleheads like Annoying and The Scream can learn something then.

I agree, I've refused to shop there since 1998. The customer service is terrible as well. Very rude!

I am so grateful to have Logo's! Why buy something new when you can get the same book at a great price. They have a huge selection and it is rare not to find what I am looking for. The customer service has always been courteous and great. Not sure about those naysayers above, the first one described people that are in the area in general, not only Logo's customers. Just like everywhere downtown there is a mix of people. The one above how can you comment on customer service if you haven't been in there for 11 years? Anyway, if you are a bookworm, check it out!

Logos had a huge part in developing my appreciation for new and used books. They also helped me make it through somehard times through resale. It is sad to know the owner does not make a salary. It seems like his contributions to the community should render him something...

I love Logos, my favorite downtown business. Their natural history section is most excellent.

I moved here from out of the region. Lived here 20 years no. Logos is a fun place to browse for books. They have a lot of interesting titles, and in looking for one thing, I often find other interesting books I hadn't set out looking for. And the prices are great.

I love Logos and have been a happy customer for 24 years. I'm so glad they survived all economic turns and twists of the years and are still with us.

Annoying, The Scream, and local -- try looking at the books instead of picking apart the clientele's attire. You might learn something.

"transformation of Santa Cruz from a conservative retirement community to a culturally diverse college town."

What is "culturally diverse" about intolerant, uptight white "progressives" and college students from SoCal suburbs?

Clueless Wallace strikes again.

Yeah, you probably wouldn't know what to buy there anyway. Go shop at Borders (better yet, go to borders 'express' at the crapitola mall).

If the worst criticism of logos is about the way their customers dress, that's pretty weak. logos is a great bookstore and i shop there over all the others, including bookshop santa cruz. and i live near downtown by the way.

I love Logos! Thank you for having a great selection. The art books are a great deal, as are the cookbooks. I also like the different fiction/ sci fi and kids sections, he11 I have even found linguistics texts that I needed there, all for great prices.

Congratulations Logos!
One of my favorite stores!
I go there several times a week, and think the employees are very helpful. Great selection and prices! Keep up the good work, and ignore the illiterates above, who just love to gripe!
