Please vote for Tim Turner as the new representative for District 94.
Terry Hayes continues to use her political clout for personal gain and it comes at the expense of our children.
As a Committee Member of the Guardian Ad Litem Institute she has abused her power as the Minority Whip over and over to lobby against Oversight for the Guardian Ad Litem. They currently have quasi/limited immunity when working with children in divorce cases.
Terry Hayes is a special Guardian Ad Litem who does not have the qualifications and 99 percent of the Guardian Ad Litems who are either attorneys or social workers.
She claims to be a huge advocate for children however she charges $125.00 an hour and does absolutely no pro bono even for indigent parents. She also runs medical billing software for many other Guardian Ad Litems where she is privvy to their confidential information by the code that is posted in her files. She uses this information as her job as a Representative to lobby to keep the GAL Program the way it is when they do not even follow the guidelines of Rules of the Guardian Ad Litem. You cannot make a complaint on a Guardian Ad Litem currently because it is impossible to break through the bureaucracy of the Judicial Branch; she also uses this information as a Committee member of the Guardian Ad Litem Institute.
A Guardian Ad Litem were originally appointed in cases where there was abuse, violence, mental health, drug/alcohol abuse etc.. They were hired to investigate the information and report it to the court as an expert witness and make recommendations to the judge about the best interests of the child.
Today that has changed, GALs are hired for disagreements and able to recommend primary custody to a judge when the other parent has violated no laws, has no mental health, drug/alcohol abuse history or anything else and basically limited/remove their parenting rights without justifying it. This is wrong, Terry Hayes is wrong and she should be voted out in District 94.
We need to completely overall the Guardian Ad Litem system like they are doing all over the country. This system needs oversight and elimination of Quasi/Limited Immunity now because the rogues amongst the ranks believe they can do what they want, when they want without any consequences. I know of no other profession in the state that enjoys limited/quasi immunity when you violate someone civil/parenting rights.

I couldn't agree with you more as someone who has worked in the legal field for most of my career.
What is happening in Maine, Connecticut, an many other states is beyond despicable and must be called out for what it is - greed and corruption at the expense of already suffering children and families of divorce.
This can no longer be tolerated on any level and everyone who is part of this exposed for what they are doing and the very real harm they are causing at the expense of all of us.
Ironically - in states where GALs do not have immunity or are monitored closely - this problem does not exist.
And judges need to stop outsourcing their decision making to attorneys who profit from the system and from prolonging cases as log as possible. What do we pay judges for again?
I have started a petition about this at www.change.org which has already been signed by 46 families who have also suffered from GAL abuses.(Search for the term "guardian")
GALs may have immunity inthe court of law, but they do not have immunity from the court of public opinion - and will an are usin the power of social media to bring a shining light on this corruption and to end it once and for all - in the TRUE and actual best interests of families and children.

I concur. Time for Ms. Hayes to step down so that we can have a true representative instead of a rep who is only concerned with her personal agenda.
It is time for the system to change and particularly the very dysfunctional and politically incestuous Guardian ad Litem "process" in our state and nationwide. No more profiteering on the backs of Maine families! Terri Hayes needs to get on the right side of this malignancy or get out of public service.

Hayes abuses her power. How can someone even get into her position? Does the state think she is fooling anyone? She should be fired and never allowed to work in any government, courtroom, or social service ever again. GALs should be held accountable by the same laws everyone else is. Why would they need to be exempt if they were not cheating the system. And all GALs are under the thumb of Terry Hayes, a GAL herself, a state rep. It's too easy for her to peg a concerned parent for an angry parent. Who will standup to her, or testify against her? Nobody will, because she has them cornered. Terry has slipped and gone a little too far though, and she does not know it. There is a nasty paper trail stacking up Terry. I've seen it in person. When the coast is clear, it will be made public record.

Nancy Sue Keller guardian in Massachusetts , biased and unprofessional. Her "investigation" consisted of hearing hearsay and writing it down in the GAL report as fact.

My name is Nancy Sue Keller and I am the guardian ad litem apparently referred to in the notation above. I find the posting defamatory as I have never worked with someone out of Danville, New Hampshire and certainly this person would not have first hand knowledge of my work. As a GAL you are required to write down all information provided, include the details of who provided that information and why they believe that to be true and let the court make its determination on what credibility to give each piece of testimony. With regards to GAL training, in Massachusetts there are strict guidelines for training and it is done yearly. Remove this post.
