There were thousands of flying pincher bugs in our backyard today. I've never even seen a flying pincher bug before today so it really weirded me out. They were all over some trees we have and they were landing on the house. Did anyone else have these bugs?

Yesterday ... I saw a pincher bug on the back porch of a client....out in the rural parts of Ohio. I had never seen such a bug....looked like a beetle with pinchers ......I chumped it off as being a country bug I had never encountered before.
Until today....a friend of mine says that she has pincher bugs ...coming out of her walls. She is petrified....bugs have been non responsive to their attempts at eliminating them!
Weird and scary!

Ohh my god my back fence was totally covered i mean from the ground up to about 4 feet & around 25 feet across just a black mass of some funky black bug that was about 2 inches long that I had never seen before this morning. I was totally freaked out about them all day. stopped of @ osh on the way home from work for some chemical warfare weapons and wouldn't you know I get home & they are totally gone couldn't
even find one. ohh well hopefully they don't come back but if they do I'll be ready.

I dont know how old this post is but today is July 21, 2010 and my daughter had a pincher bug crawl into her ear last night! She is on vacation at her in laws house and her mother in law poured peroxide into her ear and my daughter turned her head and out came peroxide and bug. So, although I am 60 years old and never heard of this before today...it DID happen!

They're also known as Earwigs, for the reason just given. Ugly creatures. I've never seen thousands of them at a time. Only one or two here and there.

I found A few black pincher looking beetles today and they aren't earwigs. The ones I found were nearly an inch long. I put them on their legs and all they did was just flip themselves back onto their backs. Its horrible. I found them inside. Spring cleaning is coming twice this year.

They truly crawl into your ears at night while you sleep and eat your brains. Happens all the time. It is a socialist plot created by Obama and unfortunately it is obvioulsy working based on some of the posts I have been reading on Topix about the upcoming election...dumbasses

No, you are wrong about this. It is clearly the fault of G.W. Bush.

Not sure what the bugs you guys are talking about are. but the local bay area variety is earwig or pincer bug. People call them pincher because they pinch their predators or sometimes prey. But I think the proper laymen term is pincer. I think potato bugs (related to crickets) have them as well.

Yes - but they don't fly. What's up with this flying species? We have tons of pincer bugs - Never heard of them flying...alien bugs?
