But I worry it will infest North Livermore somehow. Hopefuly the station will be tucked out of sight on the Lab/industrial side of the freeway where nobody has to look at it.

Im more worried about the type of people who will readily have access to Livermore. The "end of the line people" who will take BART to Livermore as their last resort after pissing off everyone where they came from.

So you've got a homeless guy living on the streets of San Francisco, let's say he does heroin. He's borrowed money from everyone he knows, even been fronted heroin from all his dealers. But all the money he manages to scrape together goes towards his next fix. A week or two goes by and his dealers are starting to get mad that he still owes them money. Another week, and now they're threatening him; maybe even roughed him up a bit. Knowing he has no money and no way of paying these people back, he decides to skip town. So he gets on BART and goes as far as he can go, welcome to Livermore!

Why would a junkie with no money leave all his connections and come to a place where he has no way to score? Does bart give free tickets to drug addicts?

I'm sure they could find anything out here. Look at all the drug users already here. I know there is IV drug use in downtown because I see the orange caps on the ground and have seen two needles in the bushes at Carnegie Park on 4th street.

And no, no free tickets to junkies, but people can and do jump the gates at BART.

You people need to get an effong life. Yeah, poor ptown is what? In the crapper sonce Bart? Lol

Bart owns the land at North Front from Herman down (where cos room). That will probably become the parking lot/garage.

Bart to OAK or SFO .... Yes! Get here already, I have been paying for BART for quite a long time.

Huh? No one has even mentioned Pleasanton is this thread? Maybe you need to get some "effong" eyes.

That's a stretch to think there will be an exodus of junkies to Livermore if BART gets out here.

Sorry, I guess I overlooked it.

But to agree with Snap, I have seen way more black people at Stoneridge since the West Dublin station opened. I worked at the mall my junior and senior year of high school (5 years ago) and rarely saw many black people there. Now, I see groups of five or six roaming the mall. They don't appear to be shopping because they're never in the stores and are carrying no bags. They also don't seem to be from here. So one would assume that they're utilizing the direct connection between wherever they're from and the mall which happens to be a five minute walk from the new station.

That's exactly what I think is going to happen if BART comes to downtown.

I have no doubt there are more blacks there now, it does make sense. I'd like to see the stats that Security compiles on incidents at the mall. The cops in BART cities often claim there is no BART connection to crime rates in the surrounding areas, but I think they are full of shit and are just being PC. Of course there is more crime. Question is, can we get the data for the mall? In any case, Stoneridge will at some point have some major problems at some critical mass of blacks - shoppers will get mugged or robbed or raped or carjacked and that will be it, they will stop going to the mall.

There's been a lot of threads about BART that mention crime. Now that we know there are more incidents at Stoneridge than before because of the West Pleasanton station, we just need to better understand what those incidents mean for people who live near the mall. Anyway, posting here so people can read this article about armed robberies in Rockridge, an affluent Oakland neighborhood bordering Beserkeley :

http://www.ktvu.com/news/news/spike-armed-rob...

Notice the quote: "Police said the BART station in Rockridge and the easy access to freeways is part of what makes the area attractive to burglars. "

Well that's a real prejudice comment. Whites, black, Asian, east Indian and Hispanics as well as many other nationalities ride Bart. What's up with the racism ??

What makes you bring up "racism"? What do you think in that post is "racist"? BART brought more blacks to Stoneridge, as predicted. And if we could locate some data we'd quickly see what the effects of that increase has been. Anecdotally it has been as expected.

I'm sorry, but other people ride Bart as well and some of the references are to black people and black folks and higher rate of crime. Its a given that some black people steal or vandalize etc., but so do people of other nationalities it's just not in the news as often. Maybe it's just me, but I like to keep race out of it, and say having Bart come to Livermore might and probably will bring more crime. People that don't live in the area might not respect the city as much and therefore commit more crimes. I have known white people that shoplift and have disassociated myself from them, it's not my thing to not earn what I want.

Ok so my mistake, I apologize to snap. I took your comment about more "blacks" and read other comments and put them together. You never said blacks create more crime. I don't know however, what the big deal is about more "blacks" coming to the mall, we are not segregated anymore so what's the issue? BTW I am "white".
