A 23-year-old Livermore motorcyclist died early Thursday morning when he crashed into a tow truck and then was hit by another vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said. Ryan Elmore was killed around 1:15 a.m. on southbound Interstate 680 north of Alcosta Boulevard. Elmore was traveling on his 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle in a right-hand lane at an "extremely high rate of speed" and failed to slow down for a flatbed tow truck ahead of him, CHP Officer Steve Creel. Creel said Elmore braked and skidded for a long distance before slamming into the truck. Shortly after the impact, Elmore and his motorcycle were struck by a second vehicle that could not stop in time. Elmore was pronounced dead at the scene. Creel said Elmore was traveling in excess of 100 mph and may have been intoxicated before the initial crash. Immediately after the incident, three lanes of the highway were closed for an hour and a half while investigators examined the scene and a coroner arrived. No one else was injured in the crash.

Ryan Elmore was one of my best friends. I just want everyone to know how special of a person he was. He always had a smile on his face and if I EVER needed help, be it i was stranded or anything, he was always there.

Ryan, I love you my friend I hope that wherever you are, you are at peace.

I just met Kathy Elmore through my long-time friend Judy and Jim Wells. My son CHP officer Scott Russell had just been killed and Kathy instantly became someone I considered a friend. She has been so generous and compasionate, and we enjoyed so many fun evenings together eating dinner and playing table games. I am so, so, so, hurt to see her having to experience the horrible disbelief, pain and anger that ultimately comes when you lose your precious boy. This is so awful, and although I never met Ryan, I cried for him and the waste of such a young life. I know what incredible pain his family and friends are experiencing. I am so sorry you are going through this. Rest in Peace young man. And to you, Kathy, I am here for you. Love, Betty Elliott

Though I only met Ryan a few times when he was dating one of my friends, I'll never forget his kindness and his love of life. He had a smile like no other and I'll remember that forever! Rest in peace, Ryan.

Ryan was a good friend to my son. He was a favorite of mine. He was always happy and a pleasure to have around. He always made sure he said hello whenever he came by the house. He was well mannered and had wonderful character. I will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I will never forget him.

(hi Aaron) Ryan was... the love of my life. Its been nice to hear all the kind things that people had to say about him. He will be forever missed and also remembered. If anyone wants to know anything about services please e-mail me

I hope that people will slow down because of this and realize that life is fragile. Though we'd all like to think that we have all the time in the world and the rest of our lives to live it, we may not. It's precious.
