This is just sad news. Did anyone see this coming? It's really too bad. We will miss it especially my youngest one. I haven't seen a more family friendly/oriented business in town that welcomes little ones so warmly. Wish there was something we could as a community to save it from closing.

For other DQ fans out there... This Sunday is the last day ๐Ÿ˜ข

Why? Do we know this for sure?! We have family bike rides, sometimes, just to go there. This is so unfortunate.

Why? I do not know and wish I did. As to whether its true or not then yes. I was there earlier this afternoon and they had signs posted inside and upon enquiring the lady at the counter confirmed it.

I'm sorry but I cannot share your sadness over this. DQ is nothing special, just another chain. Boo hoo now kids will have to get their over priced ice cream somewhere else, or perhaps you should do as my parents did, make a family event out of MAKING ice cream. A little cream, sugar, rock salt and water is all you need. Unless you enjoy paying too much for a frozen treat.

If you knew our family, you'd know that a 6 mile bike ride with three lively children warrants a $2 ice cream cone. It's not that big of a deal and honestly, the service has always been good there and I hate to see any business, national chain or otherwise, go bust. Thanks for the suggestion on additional family activities, I will be sure to reach out to you for more ideas when I need them although we tend to like the outdoors much better than sitting in the kitchen.

making ice cream with that method can be done anywhere, you could take a bike ride, find a shady place to sit down, granted you might need a cooler and ice instead of cold water, and as long as you have a sealed container to roll on the ground, you could have delicious home made ice cream in a matter of minutes. Not sure about kids today but when I was a child I practically begged my parents to let me make ice cream. Not saying that it's practical but it is a fun family event. Kudos on taking the time out of your day to go on a 6 mile bike ride with your family though (im sure it's more fun than it is work.) It's good to hear that they don't just sit behind a computer or tv all day. Also an easy and fun project for kids is Oobleck... don't know if you've tried it before but essentially it's 2 cups of cornstarch, 1 cup of water and 3 drops of food coloring (kids choice) it's a non newtonian fluid which means under pressure it turns into a semi solid, but when left idle turns into a liquid. Easy to clean up as well.also if you have big speaker and stretch film you could place it over the speaker and it will dance to whatever kind of music you crank.
