Because of a difference of opinion and the interference from an outsider Live Oak's WLVO has gone dark and most likely will remain so until sold to a corporate entity for big bucks. I am of the understanding there was a near deal worked out between the current owner and two local individuals willing to invest in the enterprise but because an individual has gotten to that owner seeing personal profit it fell through. I am so sorry that this has happened as we now are even more limited in a local media for our news, sports, weather and information and am at the mercy of corporate radio that feels automated formats and voice tracks are what people want. Oh well, such is life hey?

What a shame!Easily the best classic rock station from Tallahasse to Daytona Beach. You'll hit cuts on there that you wouldn't hear on other stations.

Any station that plays Ray Charles, Blue Oyster Cult, Buddy Guy, Steely Dan, Gov't Mule, The Temptations, Shinedown, Black Sabbath and Harry Chapin- and lesser known songs at that- IN ORDER, back to back- has my full and utmost respect. What a wonderful station this was. And the "Fried Show" on Saturday nights was great as well. I personally got several obscure requests in on that show. I never thought I would be writing this just a few months ago. I guess you don't know what you got until it's gone rings true here. Sad.

I fear that WLVO is gone forever as we knew it. Here is what's happening.
Leon managed to file for an extension of being dark for one year before he died. What this means is the station is still in his name as license holder but being demised he can no longer hold the license. The station is in probate and most likely be for a while. This will mean the license will be ended for WLVO and the frequency will be offered for sale to the highest bidder once again or sold by the family that has the authority. Regardless, the station as we enjoyed and as I loved broadcasting on will be a different animal when it comes back to life if ever at all. We shall see.

Since the demise of wlvo i've tried to listen to other area stations but i just can't stomach listening to "bad to the bone" and "hot blooded" on a daily basis. i've resorted to listening to talk radio now. wlvo played songs like "down by the river" by neil young and "she's so heavy" by the beatles on a daily basis. big difference. sadly, we'll probably never hear epic songs like those on the radio in this area again.

Just to let you know corporate radio has decided that there are about 300 to 500 songs that we like and will not play anything outside those choices. WLVO had over 3,000 in their library and add to that the library of the Fried Show and Music For Mushrooms and Night People that added more than one can listen to in years. It was a good run while it lasted and who knows it may come alive again.
