What a wonderful weekend! Ran into Miss Susie and her husband Brant in the park enjoying local seafood and later on Main Street buying a painting. Miss her at Cedar Key School, and will always be glad my child had Miss Susie as a 1st grade teacher.

You may not be familiar with the way things work in Cedar Key, or countless other places in the South, but Miss Susie (Helvenston) taught 1st grade at CKS for 20 years, Miss Linda teaches Kindergarten, Miss Janiece teaches 5th grade, Miss Lauren teaches High School English, Miss Charlotte and Miss Angie work in the Main Office, Miss Gini-Lynne is the Guidance Counselor and Miss Malinda serves as Health Aide.

These ladies are all married, but are content with this very Southern show of respect. By the way, Mr. Brad is a High School History and Spanish teacher, Track Coach, Athletic Director and is married to Miss Sue, who is our Media Specialist. I could go on, but I imagine you get the picture.

Calling yourself BALLET MOM might suggest you remember when Miss Susie was a ballet/tap/jazz instructor at Susie's School of Dance in Cedar Key and Chiefland. Is that the case?

No matter, it was wonderful to see Miss Susie and her husband Brant in town last weekend and yes, we still miss her at Cedar Key School.

Sorry, wrong Miss Susie. Guess I missed reading the CKS.

No problem. Susie is a special person, and when she moved back to Live Oak to marry Brant Helvenston, we lost an incredible asset both to our community and our school. Considering what she has gone through, it is good to see her so happy!
