1 Well, just for the road Program:" there is a $400 million in expenses and only $1.5 million in revenue.""Additional cuts are expected in the state's secondary road program"....local employees will not recieve any raisses/no new positions/ lower revenues in the county and have a challenge to provide continued services" ....all this from the county manager,Jack Horton. Go to the airport......expenses to be:$3.5 million plus all the additional cost that will be unknown.....now one would think with this county budget at a standstill or lower.....they could not afford to be adding anything to anything. All the above does not even include the archeologist money. Heaven forbid they are required to do a phase 11 or 111.......... As the Section 106 under NAGPRA and then the fact that the 1st archeologist,Dr. Michale Trinkley proposed this site to the National Historic Registry.....other sites that have been so vauable have been known to have to be done all by hand. Not to mention of the 26 acres, of which this is a small area under review......what about the remaining acreage? Human burrials on this site........human burrials on the rest? Wow........can the county afford this? I was enterested in the airport club.....so I looked at it's site......the members are still raising money so they can purchase a small plane to learn on. They are poor. I thoughta airplane club that says they are active....would have planes....boy, was I shocked ......no planes. Yep......a small airstrip.......... Further.....this airstrip wants all questions for who ever in by the next meeting 5-26-09 and they have to be in written form. Guess they can not or will not answer off the cuff. Will the written ones get an answer? There "best" customer per another article is Phil C. Drake....you know the person that owns most of Franklin in Macon county.....is Macon going to change it's name to Drakeville? They should. I was told that the Macon county "officals" took the highest bid for the Policce Dept. from his best friend.....when a county is almost broke ,don't they usualy go with the lowest bidder? Guess not. Well..........I guess they do not mind spending all the tax payers money in Macon county.....of which the airport STRIP is just a department. Who elected these people to these positions? Are there not better qualified people they could have elected? Something about doing "the peoples will", not their own.......... Do Not forget your questions...... |
you who think you have all the money you need..........realy?
Better think again.......... |
oh no..........everytime the archeologist are busy..........well, they better get alot more $$$$$$$$$$it sure is going to get REAL expensive..........
Just toady one of our Save the Sacred Sites memebers e mailed us on our site on myspace and had her interpator ........she is from yet another country that has joine our group and is getting the word out........wow.........all those countries with all their people that are spreading the word, about the site at the little airport that wants to grow up and be big ontop of human graves........well, alot of people around the globe now know all about those responsible. |

Money talks, the rich and powerful always get their way and the politicians have never represented the interests of the people, never! Well, I take that back, they do represent the rich and powerful people!
This is VERY correct. This happens in all states. Only in a very few times does the peoples interest come first.......They have even been given several warnings not to mess with this site.I guess they want more "bad" hail/wind/tornados,mud slides, etc. these thing will continue, wether they belive in them or not. The Swine flu......just a start. Hope everyone is ready.......... |

some times people get caught..... June 10th 2009----Federal Dept. of Justice.....24 people arrested in vioaltion of ARPA & NAGPRA by the FBI,BLM,US Marshalls state and local law in the Four Corners area.Nations largest artifacts theft round-up so far.It seems one town involved. "THESE ARCHEOLOGICAL TREASURES ARE PRECIOUS AND PROTECTING THEN PRESERVES A RICH HISTORY HERITAGE.THAT IS WHY THE JUSTCIE DEPT. WILL USE ALL OF ITS TOOLS TO VIGOROUSLY ENFORCE THE LAWS AND SAFEGUARD THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF NATIVE AMERICANS, said Dept. Attorney Ogden. Ghost Dog.......here we go again....... look at the june 18th Macon new.......seems the Western North Carolina Alliance and the Mountain Landscape Initiatives(MLI) are gearing up for grwoth and EXPANSION in them ther hills......are you ready?....the "group" has brought in former Macon county planner Stacy Guffey as a "CONSULTANT" in LAND USE PLANNING........uh,oh......... they even have a "strategic" plan......oh no..........yep. It seems ALL OF MACON COUNTY IS UP FOR GRABS. Yep......they have plans and plans and plans. If you wit long enough the story behind the story will come out......it did. Seems they like the P.U.D. plans ----alot of people close in together....... Some folks got a little uneasy with the thought going around about...."taking personnel peoperty".......... I did not think I would live to see the day that Franklin and ALL of Macon county looking like Atlanta.....and all the counties it gobbled up.....this is the plan. This is the Macon plan, Frnklin plan,EDC plan. Is it anybody elses???????? |

1 The Guffey woman knows nothing about planning, she is a puppet of others. She is the one that caused the debacle with the woman who had the grooming business and ended up losing her business and house because the town refused her a permit after giving her one for a couple of years. To whoever it was that wanted to know the Dalton kid's salary, the Franklin Press published it today, it is $37K. That is more than the starting salary for the Register of Deeds, the Chief Deputy Sheriff, the Veteran's Service Officer and a School Nurse II, who has to be a Registered Nurse with experience! Heckuva salary for a guy who has no experience, no real job, they had to create the job. Wonder what the experience levels were of the other 24 applicants that were turned away for a kid with "Enthusiasm". Wonder if he got layed off or fired from those two jobs at the beach, two jobs, less than two years. Would he still be at the Beach if he hadn't lost his sales job? Pays to have friends in high places. |

Ghost Dog, well.....all I can say about this is WOW....... But I do have a silly question......If the county is barley holding its own...no hiring(?), no raises?.....why do they hire these two? Then at such a price tag? Then lay off teachers that are so needed? Is anyone checking on these actions? Calling them on them? Reporting them to someone who could make them answerable for "their" deeds? I know these are probably realy non-answerable as the county seems to do whatever it wishes over the welfare of the community as a whole....... |
Who would you report these things to, the people that took the action? Nothing illegal, just uncouth and unfair! Power is where it is and as I have said before, in a small town, you don't go against the power because if you do, your name is mud! Doors will close in your face and you will be hurt financially, socially and professionally, just the way it is and always has been, honesty, truthfulness and fairness do not apply in politics or the business worlds but payback, ostricizing and shunning do!
well.........you know the old saying,"what goes around comes around." They will eventualy get their com -upins' and probably from a un thought of action. That is how it usualy goes..... I always tell folks......just wait and you WILL see.......... |

1 Ghost Dog, Since you seem to think $37k/yr is so much money, I would love to know what your education and professional background is. Since you feel the need to make assumptions about things you don't know about and all. BTW - teachers in Macon County start at $36k/yr. Thanks |
North Carolina Base Teaching Salary Levels with 3 years of experience are: BA-$30,930; MA-$34,020; and PHD-$36,550! Don't know where you got the $36K figure from.$37K is a lot of money for someone with NO experience who was let go or fired from two jobs at the beach, where he would probably still be if he had not been fired or layed off, especially when he has to have a "contract" tutor to teach him Liaison and how to communicate with Companies he might want to try and recruit for Macon County. This job was a "set up" from the get go. What were the experience levels, educational levels, qualifications, job histories, etc of the other 24 candidates.$37K equates to about $760 per week, plus health and other benefits. For a 40 hour week, that equates to about $19 per hour. There are not many jobs in Macon County, except working for the County, that pay $37K per year, not many at all. I will bet he doesn't recruit a single company in the next year!$37K is not much in a larger city but in a small rural town, it is a lot, especially for a begining trainee in a formerly non-existant liaison position. County employee jobs have risen to the point where we have several in the $80K plus range and the bureaucracy continues to grow while most locals can't find a job, outside of government, where one can make $37K. The median Household income for Macon County is $32,139.00,$5K less than this inexperienced trainee is making! Pays to have connections to the people in power! |

1 1) Macon County makes up for the other $6k/year - that's where that figure comes from - it was in the Franklin press also. 2) I make more than $37k/yr and work in Macon County. It's not THAT hard to make that much when you have an education. |
So, what do you do for the county? Not many jobs in Macon county that pay over $30K that are not government related. What is your profession? Your skills? Your "education". Got mine at Western and the University of Maryland, You? |
