We need to stop the cost of the war its about a billion a day . You can hear that sucking sound all the way from the treasury.

Don't be silly. It's not that big of an issue. We just print more money. Haven't you seen the new printers? They print much faster and have no problems as long as there is paper to put in them. Gold on the other hand is hard to come by.

We need to reign our country back in, develop products & jobs here and put a halt on imports for awhile. Last put not least: make that top 2% pay some darn taxes for a change.

1 Gotta change many things. To Boot, let's start a list: Prison finance reform - must be bare bones - no $40K/yr/inmate - incarcerate serious criminals and punish those who aren't serious criminals with public works and fines. Ensure that 100% of incarcerated criminals are producing products for the USA (license plates, cables, electronics, etc). Recreation like weights, TV and things of that nature should be earned. Healthcare - Everyone needs some form of this - Make deals with the doctor special interests to provide health care for those who don't have insurance for a very low fee that the govt can pick-up - this means no repeat visit to simply have a prescription filled - run the bare minimum number of tests - doctors should DOCTOR, not simply guess and guess using tests - prescriptions need to be competitive with what they are outside this country (cost for a script here is 10Xs that of other countries - drugs are all made in the same places)- reduce operating costs for doctors (don't need 15 admins, 20 nurses for 2 doctors - bring their overhead down)- bring doctors up to date on things like writing scripts (all should be using computerized equipment to write the script and send it to the pharmacy - reduced # of mistakes reading chicken scratch)- insurance companies must recognize a wider variety of scripts (currently, doctors, patience and insurance have to go round and round and round trying to guess what the insurance will pay for - this is added cost)- members of congress should have insurance equivalent to what medicare is while in office (no more benefits after they get out)- this is a long one, more people need to input ideas. |

Part 2
War finance reform - If we don't have the money to go to war, we don't go to war - in cases like protecting the Saudi's, Iraq's, etc.- they pay for war protection with oil - not cheap oil, no reduced price - oil for war - not sure what you would charge afghanistan for (Poppy?) Public office reform - Limit public office to 1 term per candidate per office (no more careers from public service - do your time, go back home to work)- public officials receive benefits while in office, after they get out, they are on their own (no more healthcare for life, no more pension, no more anything - we've paid enough)- reduce the number of public officials (there is a person for every mini-district on the payroll - reorganize districts and do more with less). The list here is really long, let's hear from other posters as to what else is lacking. |

1 Education reform - Schools should consider hiring people with real life experience to teach to supplement the teaching of the college educated teachers (bring back wood shop, machining, auto mechanics, sewing, etc.- the trades have a strong place in America). Bring in people like Engineers, Scientists, Doctors, Lawyers to teach for short periods (maybe 1 semester at a time). Make the teaching salaries competitive (you work 10 months, so it would be prorated compared to that which an equivalent job pays for 12 months). Reduce the school week to 4 days a week, 9 hrs per day (save money 1 day per week in all schools + give parents and kids more time to spend together). Restructure the curriculum by semester classes. Year long classes are too long and too boring. Mix it up a little so that the kids don't simply stop listening half way through the year. Compress the teaching materials so that your point gets across and you move on (remember that kids today have very short attention spans - catch it while it's hot and move on). For non-english speaking children, the first 2-3 yrs of school enrollment should be focused on learning english only (reading, writing, speaking - all other things like math, science, etc. can wait). Eliminate the more pay for bilingual teachers (teaching is a job that people want to do to help kids, not to exploit the pay system).- Busing from and to school should be limited to 1 shift of morning and 1 shift of afternoon. Kids who stay late after school should be picked up by the parents (let the schools save some money).-Principles in schools should be reduced to 1 principle for 2-3 schools. This is basically 1 manager for a couple hundred employees (teachers). This person can appoint 2-3 leads. No need to pay 3 PhDs to run 3 schools. Also, you should not need a PhD to run a school. A good manager can run a school much more efficiently than a principle who doesn't know much other than theoretical education.- We may consider privatizing public schools. This doesn't mean we pay someone more money to run private schools. We basically outsource the managing of the schools to contractors the way defense work is outsourced to private companies. Companies are given an annual operating budget. Their profits are based on the success rate of the school and how the budgets were managed as well as other criteria. These companies are held accountable for reporting out 4X per year on the progress that the school is making.- institute a "real life" work program into the schools, where kids actually have a job 1-2 periods per day for a couple of semesters (this shows them job responsibility and shows them what kind of things to expect after finishing school as well as work experience. Not all kids will be college bound - in these classes, they produce products that help the school economy (prisons make license plates, there's bound to be things that school kids can make)- this one is so long that people can add to it for days. |

Part 5
Import/Export (NAFTA - a.k.a free trade)- how about equal trade instead? - Apply import/export taxes equivalent to those placed on USA goods to all foreign goods (this includes China - if America sells a doll for $10 and other countries charge a tax of $1 to import it - That country may choose to export dolls to the USA at a cost of $1 per doll - to keep things even, that doll must have a tax that puts it's overall price even with equivalent American exports, so the tax would be $10)- wanna make America competitive again, wanna bring them jobs back to America, wanna get them countries to increase their wages, we have our hands on their necks, all we have to do is start squeezing. Wanna bring 100s of thousands of jobs back to the USA?-Keep innovation in the USA. For every country that decides that they want to outsource their engineering, science, manufacturing, etc. Apply stiff penalties or heavy taxes. Americans are very capable of doing these jobs and they should be kept in America (the boom place for this type of work right now is India and China). I'm sure there is more to add. Public Works - These should be limited and prioritized. For one city, they should have a list of public works that require addressing. Work 1 job at a time. The times of tearing up 20 streets within 1 city and working on 1, 1X per month needs to stop. Bring focus to the public works. Don't put lights where they don't belong. If you build walking trails, then light them up as you build them, not after you've already built them. Plan works prior to doing them. No more, "we forgot to put in the cables for the lights, gonna have to dig-r-up again". This is unnecessary expense. A little planning can save us a lot of money. No more 5 guys standing around a hole, while 1 guy digs. Everyone get a shovel and start digging. Cut out the BS and start getting some actual supervision going on. |

Stop "imports". USA people in USA jobs. Fire GM Execs, get new blood in there than can make a good product. Open the Borders or Close them - stop the games that costs the lives of innocent people. |

Your ideas make complete sense! Win/Win instead of Win/Loose. And, prisons don't need Commercial TV - besides, it promotes violence. |

Yes. Yes. Yes - brilliant ideas for the American People. |

Not sure what happened to the other parts of this. They must have been removed. This is a long one, but it's got a lot of interesting stuff. Not just 'cause I say so, but these are things that i hear people complaining about on a daily basis.

1 Immigration reform (Illegals) Enforce border security. Stop building fences. We have many BP agents that patrol the country internally. Move them all to the border. 1 agent per 1/4 mile over 2000 mile stretch of the mexican border 24 hrs/day, 7 days per week can be covered by 33,600 agents. Legalize the ones that are already here, so that you don't have to do all the internal patrolling by the BP, local police, state police, etc.(this is wasted money as well). The ones that are already here, you penalize for 2-3 yrs, by taxing their income at 25-30% levels (no exceptions, no child tax credits, no nothing). Use your resources correctly. BP should be protecting the border (hence the name "BORDER PATROL"). Local cops should be helping the people. This is a long and drawn out one too. |

2 Local Law Enforcement - Focus on the core problems (murder, rape, theft, gang activity, etc). We spend so much time, money and effort patrolling the streets looking for speeders. This seems like a waste of useful resources. Speeding will take place forever, unless we start putting little receivers in cars that receive signals from local speed posted transmitters that allow the vehicle to run no more than set speed. Although speeding 20 mph over the speed limit could prove to be dangerous. It is very much dependent on the situation. 30 mph above the speed limit in the middle of the desert on a very straight strip of deserted road is probably not very dangerous. Seems like a refocus is in order. We did not hire you to watch everyone's little every move. We hired you to keep us save from things that threaten our lives on a daily basis. We did not hire you to put up speed traps, cameras and the like so that you can RAISE MONEY. We already provide you with money. No need for REVENUE ENHANCEMENT ZONES. |

2 Foreign Policy - This is very simple. We are friendly to countries who are friendly to us. We do not go kiss up to the Saudis, or the Iraqis or anyone else. We help countries that are seriously trying to promote freedom. We do not help countries that support drug trade, oppression of people, human rights violations, etc (this includes Mexico). We don't try to change the whole world just 'cause they think a little differently than we do. We help those who ask for help. We leave those alone who don't need our help. We still continue to draw intelligence on WMD and things like that. This is a difficult one in that knowing where to draw the line is hard. |

1 Drugs - Either legalize them or make sure that the borders are really being protected using the latest and greatest sensing technology. We may put sensors along the entire border to tell us if anything is trying to cross into the USA. May be something as simple as a fence with electrical power flowing through it (here we go with fences). In reality, sensors to sense drugs and people are not out of this world. Expecting that the American people are just going to stop using drugs is a pipe dream. If you legalize the drugs, it hits a couple of areas. You are allowed to tax the drugs heavily 80% of the cost is tax. You stop the drug violence across the border (no profit). We run a legal operation. The users will continue using them. The people who don't use today, will not use even if they are sold at the corner QuickieMart. There are costs associated either way. Trying to keep them out seems to be more costly. Letting them in will yield a profit. Some people may drug their lives away quickly and will no longer be a problem. W/r to medical costs. If you choose to be a drug user, you automatically pay 25-50% more for insurance. Again, a very long an nasty one. |

1 Housing Market - Put up new rules that do not allow for the shenanigans that were going on to bring about the BUBBLE. On all homes where people are upside down. Either make the banks bring the loan to a reasonable size or let them simply lose their home. No more artificially inflating the price of houses. No more the realtor's friend is an appraiser and they agree on a price so that the bank can lend XXX money. Businesses - Very simple. If they cannot afford to stay in business they go out of business. No bailouts. No govt help, regardless of the size of the institution. You run your business, you should have money set aside in case hard times come along. If you run your business strictly on credit, then there will be problems. These are just a few areas that require attention at this moment. My apologize for the lengthy post. The Boot! |
