Both Gary and Pamela are really solid reporters. More than I can say for the combo station or KHON. Best of luck to both of you and anxious to hear of your future plans. Hope there are more specials to air.

Its about ratings, no matter what the "official" word is. Why the headline top-rated? KITV hasn't been top-rated, is well behind Channel 2 and 9. Good luck to Mr. Sprinkle though; seems a good time to escape.

don't have to do a nationwide search for replacements- on the unemployment line, there are former KHNL news anchors-Howie Dashefsky & Diane Ako who should be available. The Sprinkle-Young combo has run its course and we will miss their specials and their movies reviews & pet-son-the-set features. Aloha and thanks for being the alternative news choice to the Severe Weather station and the "old guy" on channel 2.

Gary and Pam...solid and credible. Both professional and talented. The best team on T.V. today. For me, I don't watch much local T.V. Lost interest as I got older.

Two class acts, the best dressed news team in the islands. Amazing that with Pamela going through her breast cancer issues you would never know by the professional manner in which she conducted herself. Best of luck to both.

Time for a little reality check, Erika and viewers of Hawai'i. The truth is that Gary was shoved out the door by the general manager at the end of the contract. When management says it was "their decision", that's simply not true. And Erika, when someone is bumped to weekend anchoring, it's called "demoted" not "scaling back." You need to stop parroting press releases. Gary and Pamela are simply showing class and making the best of the situation.

Bring in someone new. Perfect time for KITV to revamp their news anchors and format. Please don't reuse the same musical chair anchor people recycled from other stations.

It's about time that local news should step up and improve its news-gathering. There is too much reliance upon crime and nonsense type of stories. Weather is almost always, "few mauka showers and sunshine in the afternoons". There should be more substantive news stories. Sprinkle has done some good work, especially in covering environmental stories But Pamela Young is not a serious journalist. She should be on an "Entertainment Tonight" type of position.

I wish them luck as well, but "the best dressed news team?" Are you kidding me? Half the time they wore the ugliest, most outrageous coordinated outfits that made me change the channel as soon as I saw them. I swear, their clothes actually discouraged me from watching them - the induced nausea was too much of a distraction!

Reorganizing due to the rating huh? Bring back cute asian guy back that was with Paula Akana. He is a lawyer but I forget his name. He kept me motivated to watch the news.

If you knew anything about Erika Engle you'd know that's the last thing she does. She digs and digs and digs and covers the media beat in Honolulu like white on rice. I will say this, although you are probably correct in your surmise that management told Gary his contract would not be renewed, you are wrong in thinking that Erika was unaware of this. Everybody who has ever been in media knows how to read between the lines but Erika chose to save the guy some face. Why add insult to injury, let the man walk out w/some dignity. Or is that concept too hard for you to understand "Rob"?

Always enjoyed watching these two. Gary can be a little huffy behind the scenes, tho. But on camera, they were nice. Agree that Pamela handled her breast cancer with amazing class. Not sure if she even mentioned it on tv. Seems every time Malika Dudley farts, she gotta tell everybody about it LOL! I sing, I paddle, I surf, I going karate Robin Hood...
