Wholesale Discount Foods

Do NOT buy food from this business. Items are very expired and the place is not exactly the cleanest I've ever been in, which definitely made me think twice about buying anything. Shelf life for shampoos is 1.5-2 years. Creams and lotions can last for 6 months. Since a lot of Dollar stores and other discount places buy outdated products you can not always gauge how old the product is. Ocean State Job Lots is the same. TJ Maxx is also known for getting in some older shampoos and creams. For example I sometimes buy Finesse shampoo. I know what the most updated packaging for the product looks like so when I go to Job Lots and see packaging that is the older style, I automatically know that they are getting in product over a year old. Walgreens has sold the newer packaging of the same Finesse products for a year at least. Buying outdated beauty products is not a good idea. Chemicals change depending on how long they've been mixed together, and react with temperature variances and lighting exposure. The same goes for food items with regards to heat and light. Bacteria growth responds well to heat and light particularly when a canned food nears or passes its published expiration date. In the interest of health, safety and maximizing your money's worth buy products at more reputable locations.

Sherry, You are completely right. Job Lots and TJ Maxx are constantly carrying outdated shampoos, conditioners and lotions. The only items I buy there are the solid bar soaps. They are always changing stock with them so that is not a problem, but any of the higher priced shampoos, lotions and hand soaps and stuff do NOT buy it. They are always getting in old package containers of it and there's no telling how old it really is. Kind of sketchy. Wholesale Discount Foods was nasty awful when I went in there. I ended up not buying anything at all cause it was so outdated! The Dollar Tree can be the same way (albeit its a cleaner looking store than Discount Foods) but you really have to watch expiration dates on snack foods and batteries. Most of the batteries at Dollar Tree are expired. I picked up 10-12 packages of them only to find the same thing, some of them expired over a year ago and they still have them there. They are preying on people not noticing so they can rip them off.

All the Rayovac batteries at the Dollar Store were way past expiration. When I mentioned it to them a few times and then went back in weeks later they were still selling them all. I haven't been in for quite a while though. It takes a lot to get these stores to wake up and pay attention to stuff like this, especially with the more health concerned items like food and shampoos. People are very reluctant to change when it comes to making a profit and can be very stubborn and selfish to get what they want no matter what the cost. Most places don't change until someone sues them over it. I'm seriously surprised nobody has tried to sue Wholesale Discount Foods yet. Even though they may "legally" be able to sell it, if someone got really sick then something could be done because even though its "legal" doesn't make it "right" and you have ethical and moral obligations, otherwise you will pay up the wazoo for allowing it. Given all the known data and media attention on spoiled food illnesses, improper food handling, I don't think it would take much to have something done about it. People are not as willing to look the other way today as they were 15 years ago.
