I am sure glad I live in Michigan and have a natural gas heating system along with a much used fireplace!

Well, I paid an extra $0.40/gal for downward protection on top of the $4.59/gal price and I am glad I did!
Cash prices around $2.50/gal now means my choice saved me about $2/gal over the contract price!

thats why i never lock in. i did get rid of auto delivery when the prices got too high(conviently i ran out twice!!), but iat least i am not stuck with huge bills.

my heating company actually took me OFF auto delivery when I wasn't taking more than 100 gallons at a time..it made more economic sense for me to continue to pay into a budget account and call them for delivery when I felt the price was right! I did get 125 gallons at over $3 a gallon, but reading this article tells me to wait until January to think about topping off!
