Don't hold your breath. Some one told me that Verizon wont offer FIOS in Lowell until that legislation is passed.

If Verizon were here, I bet Comcast would keep your package price the same when the one year is up. It would be great to say, ok, I;ll go to Verizon.

I just got a shock when my comcast $99 special expired and my bill went to $190 last month! I should have been an aware consumer and done something before it expired but I never gave it a thought. A lengthy trip through comcast phone hell gave me little relief... basically deal with it or cancel.

Verizon is not good, you speak to people overseas and they are so hard to understand. Also once its in your town be prepared for them to call and call and call you to get it. So far in the last 2 weeks we have had 2 calls.

what are you buying for $190? I think if you say you're gonna cancel, they'll extend the 'deal'

Can't wait for a little competition! However if Verizon's FIOS reliability is anything like their phone reliability in South Chelmsford, they're going to get a lot complaints.

The Comcasts and Verizons of the world are hurting right now (along with us). Keep track of when your specials end and negotiate yourself an extension to the special rate before then. It's not hard. Be nice on the phone, you'll get what you want. If you don't get somebody who'll work with you, call back and you'll get a different person.

Cancel and put it in someone else name. It's is to bad that you ahve to do this. I understand that some bills are close to $ 300.00. Buyer beware.

We were under the same promotion, it ended (which we knew was coming, and tried to extend but it wasn't being offered anymore. Threatened to cancel, they said fine. No relief. So in order to get the same comparable service (mind you, only phone, intenet, and BASIC cable with no premimum channels), we now have to pay around $150. So now we pay more to get less...hopefully Verizon will come in and we'll have some choice through competition hopefully.

I also told Comcast, that I would cancel if they wouldn't extend the package price, they didn't care. I agree the Verizon phone service in south chelmsford sucks, had to cancel it. When we got heavy rain, the phone went dead, before all the static.

Be very careful when the salesman comes to your house to sell you Verizon Fios.
We were sold the Fios package, but a week or two later, a DirecTv guy showed up to put a dish on our house. He told us that Fios wasnt available in our area, and if you signed up for the Fios, phone, and internet packages, you got DirecTv instead. Our Verizon saleman NEVER mentioned that we would be getting a dish instead of the cable. He LIED to get us to sign the contract.
The installer for DirecTv told us that no one in our neighborhood was aware that they were getting a dish instead of cable.
Out TV reception was constantly iterrupted by rain, wind and snow. Sometimes on sunny days, our picture would pixelate and our sound would skip in and out. When I would call DirecTv, they would tell me that there was "atmospheric interrference over Worcester". The month of September, we only had 3 days where our TV worked properly. They never offered to make any adjustments or help with our problem in any way until we cancelled and went back to Comcast cable. After that, DirecTv called us everyday to ask what they could do to get us back.
Beware the Verizon salesman, he will LIE to you to get what he wants.

It's dis appointing to hear advertisements on the radio for FIOS, but yet it's not available. Why is Verizon playing a cruel game? Why have it in some areas, but not all areas that customers have Verizon service, whether it be phone service, wireless service, or broadband service?

It's like those ads for Sonic and Golden Corral, they advertise on stations around here but there aren't any within a zillion miles! Mmmmmm...Golden Corral.

The EXACT same thing happened to us. We had no idea that we were getting DirecTv until the van pulled up. Our installer said that he had been to a lot of homes where people were really pissed off.

I think it is coming to Billerica soon, Verizon has been doing a lot of work around town lately, they just strung all new wires in my neighborhood.
I hate the customer service at Verizon, so I'm not sure if I'll switch over.
